This Device Turns Your Bed into a Cradle for Adults
Plenty of people attain snooze-filled solace by way of various sleep aids, from weighted blankets to essential oils and sleep-inducing podcasts. However, it would be nice if there was something that physically rocked you to sleep—you know, like parents do with infants. Well, thanks to the creators of Craadle, there could be one in the making.
Craadle, currently funding on Kickstarter, is a motorized device concept that sways your bed from side to side in order to help you sleep, well, like a baby. Backed by science that says right and left motion aids in synchronizing brain activity and increasing sleep quality, Craadle imitates the motion of a cradle by gently moving your bed from side to side with the help of four pads that connect to the bed legs.
One motorized pad works with the other three to quietly shift the bed two inches to left and right from the center position. Craadle is equipped with a simple on/off timer and remote that allows the user to control speed and timing adjustments while lying in bed. And if you’re concerned that a restless night will be worsened by motion sickness, the movement is gentle and smooth and unlikely to affect anyone who isn’t bothered by car or bus rides.
At the moment, the Craadle can support up to 800 lbs (and 1200 lbs if the weight is evenly distributed), but the creators are working to expand the weight capacity by an additional 20 to 30 percent. Additionally, the device is child-friendly and outfitted with a safety feature that automatically stops movement when it detects an increase in resistance.
