When it was finally time to upgrade my trusty old IKEA armchair from my early 20s, I knew the replacement chair had to be up to a few challenges: my ever-expanding pregnant body, a 4-year-old daughter who likes to do somersaults in the living room, and the threat of a spaghetti sauce stain that could happen at any given moment.

Because of this, a beautiful white bouclé fabric was completely out of the question (maybe once my children have graduated from high school). I also needed a deeper armchair that could accommodate a growing belly, a tall husband, and a child who emphatically loves to snuggle and watch cartoons.

Enter: The Lido Armchair by Albany Park, which I’ve now had in my living room for a few months. Sleek, stain-resistant, and, dare I say, sexy, this comfortable armchair has been a great addition to my living room.

Why I Love the Albany Park Lido Chair

Already a proud owner of the Albany Park Corner Sectional (and a fan of Albany Park furniture in general) I knew and trusted this brand to deliver a beautiful piece of furniture that doesn’t cost a fortune. And to my delight, the Lido chair has lived up to this expectation as well. What I love about this chair is that it gives you grown-up-level design that comes in a very kid-friendly fabric.

The chair is deep enough — 37 1/2, inches to be exact — to feel like you can curl your feet up, but also relatively compact so that it won’t completely overwhelm a small living space. There are 10 fabrics to choose from, including a gorgeous alabaster bouclé for those of you who don’t have children or hairy pets.

The vegan leather fabric that I chose is a pretty camel shade that’s neutral enough to go with any color scheme. The legs, which come in four different options ranging from brass to different shades of woods, are sturdy and have a little curve to them, giving you stability and mid-century modern style.

And yes, the chair is pretty — but, more importantly, it’s also downright comfortable. I’m currently about eight months pregnant and uncomfortable in nearly every chair or surface I sit on, but this chair has the right combination of depth and support to make me feel like I can sit and watch a movie without having to continually roll over like a rotisserie chicken.

But what I love most about this chair is its stain resistance. Sure, you could argue that any leather or faux leather chair is going to be easy to wipe up, but I’m truly amazed at how brand-new the chair continues to look — even after a run-in with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, spaghetti sauce fingers, and a couple of coffee drips on groggy mornings.

Although I chose the vegan leather specifically so I could ward off stains from a messy family, the seat and the cushions on the Lido chair are removable for easy cleaning and stain resistant, so that it can be the kind of chair you don’t have to hover over when guests are drinking something in the living room (or is that just me?).

My only critique is that because of the vegan leather’s slip, the seat cushion tends to slide forward a bit, particularly when a little one is sitting on it, but this can be easily fixed with some well-placed Velcro strips (which I fully intend on investing in soon).

How Easy Is It to Put the Lido Armchair Together?

The Lido armchair came in one box, and we were able to assemble it in a little less than 30 minutes. The chair comes together pretty easily, and the most time-consuming part was just making sure the legs were facing the right direction.

Even if you’re new to assembling furniture (or, rather, don’t like to do it), I’d say this is a pretty easy piece of furniture to put together in a short amount of time.

How Much Is the Albany Park Lido Armchair?

The Lido armchair starts at $1,233 when it’s at full price, but different fabrics, like the alabaster bouclé, would cost a little more.

To make such an investment-worth purchase more wallet-friendly, there is financing through Affirm, starting at about $72/month, and seasonal sales that you can take advantage of. Currently, there’s a major Labor Day sale with prices up to 40% off, making my Lido armchair just $885 instead of the usual $1,263. New customers can also sign up for emails and get $150 off their first order.

How Long Does It Take for the Albany Park Lido Armchair to be Delivered?

Each Albany Park Lido armchair is custom made to order, but the chairs are ready to be shipped in about a week after you order, and delivery times will vary. Shipping is also always free.
