Aldi Is Selling Aloe Plants For Under $5, Just in Time for Spring
Get ready to soothe sunburns and grow your green thumb at the same time because Aldi is selling potted aloe plants for under $5 right now, which means you can plant a gorgeous balcony garden for under $30.
Aldi’s aloe plants, available to purchase online through Aldi’s online store and in select stores, come in two different colored plastic pots: gray or terracotta. Once you take your plant home, it might be best to repot your aloe plant in something more porous. Because aloe is technically a succulent plant and prefers dryer soil conditions, an unglazed pot helps to wick away any excess moisture after watering.
You can also pot your aloe plant in a glazed ceramic pot with plenty of pebbles at the bottom for drainage. Just make sure to use a succulent-specific potting soil to really ensure your plant’s roots stay as dry as possible, and avoid pots without drainage holes.
If Aldi stock is running low by the time you see this, The Home Depot is also selling potted aloe plants that are available for delivery. This one from Costa Farms is about four inches tall, but can grow up to three feet tall when repotted regularly.
Like the Aldi aloe, this variety likes a lot of sunlight and dry soil between waterings, and is one of the most low-maintenance houseplants you can buy. That means it’s ideal for starter plant parents if you’re not yet a houseplant expert — as long as you don’t overwater, aloe plants are extremely difficult to kill.
“A cute aloe vera for my desk,” one The Home Depot reviewer writes. “I’ve had it for about a month now. It arrived packaged well and unharmed. Very easy to care for (with my seemingly black thumb). I will definitely order another one.”
Pick up one (or an entire farm’s worth) of these aloe plants while they’re priced at just under $5 to prep for summer and turn your space into a houseplant haven.
