Amazon Announces Its Best-Selling Products of This Holiday Season
Amazon had a record-breaking holiday season this year, the company announced, selling billions of items, including tens of millions of Amazon devices. More people than ever also tried Amazon Prime this year. In just one week, more than five million people joined Amazon Prime, either through free trials or paid memberships. And during the holidays, the number of items delivered through Prime free same-day and one-day shipping quadrupled compared to last year.
“This holiday season has been better than ever thanks to our customers and employees all around the world,” said Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos in a December 26 statement.
Other superlatives Amazon announced: Prime grocery grew, selling double the groceries to 80% more people during this holiday season compared to the same time last year. More people also watched Amazon original movies and TV shows (this was the year viewers fell in love with Fleabag’s hot priest, after all) and interacted with Alexa, particularly for recipe help. (ICYMI, Alexa can also help you change the subject to avoid family arguments around the dinner table.)
Amazon also reports that during the 2019 holiday season, it added 250,000 full- and part-time seasonal jobs and currently employs 750,000 people around the world and has 150 delivery stations in the United States.
As for the best-selling products this holiday season, Amazon says that toys, fashion, home, and beauty were its most popular categories. The top-selling home items include favorites like the InstantPot Duo 80, Roomba 675 Robot Vacuum, Keurig K-Classic Coffee Maker, COSORI Air Fryer, and Brita Ultra Max Filtering Dispenser. Most popular Amazon devices include the Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote, and Echo Show 5.
In the pet department, bestsellers included SmartSticks Peanut Butter Chews, TEMPTATIONS Classic Cat Treats, and Furbo Dog Camera: Treat Tossing, Full HD Wifi Pet Camera. Cat products outsold dog products this year—don’t tell your dog.
