If for some reason you haven’t yet binged all of “Fleabag,” get yourself to Amazon Prime immediately and dig in. Overflowing with dark humor and darker drama, it felt appropriate to focus on the dark and moody restaurant bathroom where season 2 opens.

Our protagonist is wiping blood from her face, staring into a show stopping art deco style mirror. Double pillar sconces flank the bathroom vanity, shedding plenty of light onto our heroine and then the waitress sitting on the floor, also washing blood from her mouth. And BOOM, we’re off to the races.

Hugely important in achieving this art deco meets noir style is dark, geometric wallpaper. Gold print over a black background is classic and eye-catching. And the gold sets the tone, literally, for other finishes throughout the space. This removable wallpaper is a great option for renters!

The lights should be gold or brass to keep the warmth from the wall-covering. Simple, but bold is a good motto for this room’s lighting. Because we’re getting inspiration from a restaurant bathroom, don’t feel like you need as many light fixtures. Four may be overkill depending on your space. Most likely, two is plenty. So make ‘em good ones, like this sleek tubular option.

Now let’s talk vanity finishes. The medium tone wood adds a natural moment to an otherwise very glam bathroom. I love this for the show, for you, and for me. Honestly, I think this is the piece that makes the bathroom feel well designed and not like it was copy and pasted from an “art deco” mood board. Embrace the natural finish in a mid-century style vanity

The floor is a classic white marble with black accent squares. Something similar can be picked up at your local hardware store or online. It’s not the focus of the room, so don’t worry about getting fancy here.

Now if you have room for it and want upholstered furniture in your bathroom (no judgements), a classic armchair with tailored seaming down the back would look great. Throw a little drink table next to it and you’ll never have to leave the bathroom. You’ll probably want to because at that point, there will be judgements, but live boldly on your terms. You’re putting up black and gold wallpaper. You’re a fierce independent person and if you don’t want to leave your bathroom except for meals, live in your bliss.
