Have you seen Amazon’s series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel? Of course you have. The Golden Globes loved it. The Critics’ Choice Awards loved it. It just took home eight Emmys including Best Comedy Series, and season two is coming before the end of 2018. We don’t just love it because of the acting and writing; the production design is breathtaking. Throughout the first episode, I simply repeated, “I want to go to there,” a la Liz Lemon. How can we go to there?

As you’ve probably heard, Big Little Lies is coming back for season 2 and this time it’s got a 21 time Academy Award nominated powerhouse joining the already tour de force cast. [Season one spoilers below.] Meryl Streep will play Perry’s mother who comes to town “concerned for the well-being of her grandchildren following…Perry’s death,” per the casting breakdown.

How many white rooms with pops of Millennial pink have you seen today? How many of them had simple, bulbous light fixtures with exposed cords? Was there a lacquered tray on the coffee table piled high with design books? The answer is probably a lot, and I’m here to say: Take a break and treat yourself to some fabulous traditionalism. Katharine Graham’s story is complex and dark at moments, but ultimately triumphant.

As someone who has watched the Netflix reboot through twice, I’m confident in saying it is a smashing success. I laughed. I cried. I wanted another eight episodes. The new Fab Five are so charming; it’s hard to stop watching. They’ve retained the same format at the original: Five gay men make over a (usually) straight guy. They redesign his home, his clothing, his hairstyle, and his inner confidence.

If we could all be so lucky to inherit a 17th century mansion in the Northern Italian countryside, Villa Albergoni is a good inspiration (and the real shooting location is for sale!). Yes, it’s got some 80s memorabilia in Elio’s room that you could take or leave, but it’s largely filled with antiques and objects spanning time and geography. I love how cozy it feels, even in its grandeur.

We’ve all been in a relationship where our muse turns around and stabs us in the back, right? No? Me neither. What I actually relate to in Phantom Thread is the gorgeous interiors. Yes it’s a film about fashion, but the production design is no slouch either. One minute we’re in a chic London townhouse with high ceilings, gold chandeliers, and sofas with fringe, then we’re whisked off to the country for simple, rustic decor against delicate floral wallpaper.

Taking an iconic comic and transforming it into a sexy murder mystery could have been a disaster. Sure, casting “hot” Archie was a step in the right direction. But then, to layer in this noir world around him and the rest of the unfairly beautiful cast was [kisses fingers] brilliant.

If I could go back in time to be as cool as Zoey Johnson in Grown-ish is as a freshman in college, I’d do it. She’s smart, opinionated, and has a great sense of personal style. Her friends are serving up drama hot and fresh in each episode, and she manages it all from the comfort of her fairly chic dorm room. Now dorm rooms have always meant twin beds with mattresses that have Seen. Some. Stuff.

New Girl’s L.A. misfit friends are returning for their final season on Tuesday, April 10. [Spoilers ahead] The ending last season was tough because we didn’t know if we were saying goodbye forever or see ya later. Nick and Jess were kissing, Schmidt and Cece got pregnant, Winston is…Winston. It didn’t leave me totally satiated, but I wasn’t mad either. It was just kind of ‘eh’. Lucky for us, the team gets one more shot to wrap it up the way they want.

Recently, my parents sold my childhood home and bought a grown-up condo. Gone is the lovely, comfortable suburban dwelling that housed countless birthday parties, homework cram sessions and dance recital practices. Their new home doesn’t have to be kid proof; it can just be cool. And no show’s design has been quite so cool as Mad Men (my dad loves mid-century furniture, so it’s fairly obvious inspiration). The set of Mad Men was notoriously well researched and designed.

If you like The Real Housewives of New York, you already know how gorgeous Dorinda’s Berkshires manse is. If you pretend to be above watching reality television, let me tickle your fancy with this fact: Her inspiration was Marilyn Monroe meets Frankenstein, per TownVibe Berkshire. If that’s not badass, I don’t know what is. Like Dorinda, her home is stately on the outside and full of color on the inside.

Mindy Kaling has done it again. Her new show Champions is sassy, quippy, and fun to watch. With two grown men in charge of furnishing a Brooklyn apartment, the style is collected and masculine, but by no means uninteresting. How can you get a look like two grown brothers just got a 15 year old kid dropped into their lives while they struggle to run a Brooklyn gym and decorated your home on the side? Fear not, dear reader, I’m here to help.

There’s a scene in the new PBS adaptation of Little Women that takes place at the Walden Pond Boathouse. The girls are having a picnic outing with friends. They’re running through a lush forest, down to the bank of the pond and jumping into wooden canoes. Beth sits on a blanket on the shore, with a cute boy and a picnic basket. The colors are bright and vibrant, like the girls’ moods.

With the monster hit of Avengers Infinity War still going strong at the box office (topping $2 billion worldwide), I’d like to celebrate Tom Hiddleston in his role as…Jonathan Pine, The Night Manager! And by celebrate him, I mean focus solely on the Egyptian interiors of the Nefertiti Hotel in Cairo.

With the Met Gala’s theme last month being “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and Catholic Imagination”, I got to thinking about how the Catholic Church has influenced other areas of design. The lives lived within the Vatican are a beautiful juxtaposition of minimalism and maximalism as seen in the architecture and interior decor. Symbolism and story are woven (literally) into the textiles of the Church.

Netflix’s new original movie, Ibiza, has everything: Strong female friendship. Hijinks. That guy from Game of Thrones. EDM music. Phoebe Robinson spitting one-liner darts left and right. Well-designed interiors may not be the focus of this movie, but they certainly don’t disappoint. The design was so on-point in places that I ended up needing to scour the Internet for lookalike wall hangings and accent chairs.

It only took 14 years, but we finally have the superhero film we deserve. The hero being mid-century modern design. Picking up right where the first installment left off, the Parr family is on the forefront of the fight to make superheroes legal again. During that process, they are set up in a mid-century design lover’s dream house. And lucky for you, Zillow created a listing so you can really get a sense of the home’s super features.

Moonrise Kingdom was the second Wes Anderson film I ever saw, but the first of which I could see myself easily walking onto the set and living my life comfortably; this wasn’t terribly noteworthy as the competition was slim. Nonetheless, it’s sepia toned New England setting calls to me. And I’m a sucker for a peter pan collar. The thing that strikes me about this film is I don’t want to recreate a room piece by piece.

In “Ideal Home,” Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan star as Paul and Erasmus, a couple with an extravagant lifestyle who take in Bill, the grandson Erasmus never knew he had. Throughout the movie, we learn an ideal home is not ideal because of the things that fill it, but the people who inhabit it. Obvious? Yes; But when Erasmus is eating Taco Bell in a fur coat telling his grandson this is the happiest he’s ever been, it does feel a bit more nuanced.

Ah, to see the world through the turquoise-colored glasses of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again. Where a practically abandoned farmhouse can become a chic boutique hotel with some elbow grease and plucky attitude. Where the house band at your favorite bar is always on call. Where a trio of suitors is ready to welcome you to a beautiful scarcely populated island. It’s not a bad place to kick off your sandals.

“Crazy Rich Asians” is sparkly and colorful; the story is heartwarming and heartbreaking; the acting is joyful, and the fact that this is the first entirely Asian cast of a major studio film since “The Joy Luck Club” makes its success all the sweeter (a sequel is already in the works). It also happens to be visually stunning. The majority of the movie is set in Singapore, which main character Nick Young’s family basically owns.

The Duchess of Sussex and (queen of our hearts) left behind a treasure trove of tips to achieve a life well lived. Self described as “a hub for the discerning palate–those with a hunger for food, travel, fashion & beauty,” The Tig was Goop, without the jade egg stuck up its you-know-what. But alas, after becoming a member of the British royal family, The Tig had to go.
