I love a good sconce. They’re space-saving (no tabletop room needed), fairly easy to customize with different shades, and something about them just screams high-end — but sadly most styles aren’t always renter-friendly. Because hardwiring is out of the question, you’re stuck with visible cords and limited to only placing them near available outlets.

Luckily, more battery-powered sconce options have hit the market recently, including one of the coolest-looking pairs I’ve seen from Amazon. The cordless Jengush sconce set features two globe-style lights attached to thin brass, link-like pieces. And rather than the standard arm and ready-to-mount base, these actually hang from simple black bars that come with the set and protrude slightly from the wall.

You will have to do a bit of drilling to install the rods themselves, but they’re so narrow that any holes will be kept to a minimum (and easy to patch over later). The lighting kit does include anchors to secure each in place, but Amazon reviewers suggested upgrading to more heavy-duty versions for extra durability.

Mother-daughter Instagram account @alexa.elizabeth.style demonstrates how hassle-free they are to set up and use below, while styling the pair on either side of a brass wall mirror to brighten up a breakfast nook. Neither sconce needs a plug to work — both come with a convenient remote control to turn them on and off from up to 15 feet away, as well as adjust the light temperature and color. They’re even dimmable, too!

Amazon’s cordless Jengush sconces also operate with battery-operated light bulbs, so the only downside is that you will need to remove them to recharge. But just two or three hours of plug-in time equates to up to 20 hours of use.

Best of all, though? The sleek design. I’ve never seen sconces that look like this before, and they honestly put traditional hardwired options to shame. The brass finish can complement a range of room styles, and the compact silhouette fits just about anywhere — especially dark nooks or corners. I also love that they extend so far outward for a more dimensional, decorative touch.

Because of the high-end aesthetic, these are a bit of a splurge for small-space lighting fixtures at $118.36, but they’re currently on sale for just under $100. Trust me when I say there’s no better way to brighten up your space in style than with Amazon’s Jengush rechargeable sconce set
