Despite living in my current apartment for (*checks notes*) almost three years, my decorating still feels…sparse. But I’m ok with that — most of the time, anyway. I’d rather ride out the “slow design” wave and intentionally pick pieces I really love, rather than buying art or rugs just to fill the space. (I also admittedly have horrible interior indecisiveness, but that’s a tale for another time.)

Regardless, I’m constantly home shopping (it is part of my day job, mind you!), and I have ongoing furniture wishlists from almost every major high-end home brand to prove it. I can tell you exactly what kind of contemporary credenza or wall sconces I want…but it’s all considerably out of my IKEA-budget price range. Recently, though, I came across an unexpected shopping hidden gem, specifically for modern side tables that look way more expensive than they actually are — Amazon. Hear me out: after doing some digging on the site, I landed on a surprising pocket of lesser-known accents at better-than-big-box-retailer costs. Below, I rounded up seven of my favorite side tables and nightstands under $200, all of which you’d never, ever guess came from Amazon in the first place.

This is the side table that initially instigated my Amazon deep dive: it’s sleek, functional, and a punchy pop of color. It also comes in black and clear acrylic styles, both with built-in shelf space. Just be warned that this skews more petite than standard side tables, at just under 18 inches tall, but it still works well as a low-profile nightstand or living room plant stand. Not to mention, it feels straight out of a vintage store.

Amazon
$199.98

I’ve yet to come across a furniture design quite like this before, let alone one from Amazon. The pretty-in-pink marble-topped fixture plays with shape for a cool, abstract focal point that feels one-of-a-kind, however you style it.

Amazon
$76.99

This Z-shaped silhouette puts a fresh spin on rattan side tables while doubling as a chic book or magazine display. Choose from brown or a lighter bamboo tone to complement any neutral-leaning bedroom or living room palette — for just under $70.

4 / 7
Amazon
$169.94

This small-space-friendly, tear-drop-shaped table has a whopping ten different color options — from green to white to Barbie pink. It reminds me of a contemporary take on classic martini tables, plus works both indoors and out thanks to a waterproof construction.

Amazon
$59.99

Get the trendy spindle silhouette for less than $63 via this compact side table, which adds sophisticated contrast alongside any light-hued sofa or bed setup. It’s available in yellow, gray, and light blue, too.

Amazon
$179.99

For another acrylic option, this piece features a rounded top and triangular base for convenient, low-to-the-ground storage. At just 18 inches high and 16 inches around, it’s the perfect bright, modern nightstand option for any small bedroom.

If your interior preferences skew more minimal, you can’t go wrong with this three-legged, under-$80 walnut side table. The simple design makes it a versatile jack-of-all-trades home accent, whether used as a nightstand, small coffee table, book storage, and beyond.
