The Ridiculously Comfy Sofa That Changed My Mind About Sleeper Sofas Forever (It’s on Sale!)

In my house, a sleeper sofa is a must. Not only do I have a big family, but people also often visit from out of town. And even though we have a guest bedroom, having extra options for seating and sleeping is always valuable. In the past, we’ve had sleeper sofas with woven upholstery and the traditional pull-out design, but they were a hassle to set up and the fabric didn’t exactly match the leather furniture we were slowly transitioning toward. I thought all sleeper sofas were made the same, but then I tried one from Apt2B that showed me that convertible furniture can be better! Courtesy of the luxe furniture brand, I had the opportunity to test out a pick from the new Sonnelino Collection. It’s an instant upgrade from our decades-old living room seating and a sleeper sofa fabric I’d never considered before.

Constructed with rustic charm, the Sonnelino Sleeper Sofa is expertly wrapped in top-grain camel brown Italian leather. It features screw-in tapered block legs in espresso and webbed high-density seats that bounce back to their original shape even after hours of use. The sofa’s interior combines hardwood elements with the metal sofa bed frame, providing a sturdy and comfortable surface for both sitting and sleeping. To transform the sofa into a bed, there’s a matching built-in leather strap on the back that you pull to “flip” the couch over, revealing the memory foam mattress inside. This Euro-style sleeper mechanism makes the bed much easier to open up than the typical pull-out sofa bed and allows the sleeper sofa to maintain its modern silhouette without added bulk in its base.

The Sonnelino Sleeper Sofa came with white glove delivery, so all I had to do was make sure there was room for it. We opted for the 80” queen-size sleeper, which was the same width as our previous sofa, so the space was already there. However, the Sonnelino was a definite upgrade, and not only because of its modern silhouette. The leather upholstery is smooth and soft, with a gorgeous natural texture that adds to its elegance. Our sofa has three cushions for the seats and back that provide optimal support, making the sofa cozy and comfortable whether you’re sitting on it or lying across it. I also love that it doesn’t feel overly stiff like a showpiece I’m not allowed to touch. This sofa fits seamlessly into our home and will be great to use when guests come to visit for the summer and holiday seasons.

• High-density foam cushions: The Sonnelino has ample support for your back, and the seat cushions make you feel propped up without being too firm. Even after long bouts of sitting and watching TV, the cushions regain their shape and feel as good as new. 
• Memory foam mattress: Forget about those thin sleeper sofa mattresses with coils that press harshly into your back and side. The memory foam mattress inside of the Sonnelino sofa is surprisingly cozy and supportive, and it’s actually possible to get a good night’s rest on it!
• Easy pull-open design: Going back to my childhood, I’ve never liked pulling out the mattress of a sleeper sofa. It was always so tedious having to move the cushions, and then struggle to get the right grip and positioning to pull the mattress up and out. Just the thought is exhausting. However, the Sonnelino mattress opens up by pulling from behind the back cushions and essentially flipping the sofa core upside down. It’s incredibly easy and such an upgrade from the sleeper sofas of my youth.

Due to its leather upholstery, it would be good to pick up a leather conditioner to keep the Sonnelino Sleeper Sofa from drying out. About a month after getting the Sonnelino, some areas looked drier and dustier than the rest of the sofa. However, we always have at least one leather conditioner in the house for furniture and vehicles, so that was a quick fix that was handled long before any cracks could form.
