Before & After: Eugenia’s Eclectic Colonial Makeover

Eugenia Sangiovanni recently moved into a new home in Montrose, California. With two bedrooms and two baths, a full kitchen, formal living space and den to fill… she had her work cut out for her. She describes her style as “eclectic colonial,” drawing inspiration from Kloof Street House, Cape Town, Backstage Hotel and Zermatt Switzerland. She enlisted the help of her friend Nick LaKind to help bring her inspiration to life.

Jen’s Bright and Happy Austin Abode

Name: Jen Location: Travis Heights neighborhood, Austin, Texas My best friend Marina moved to Tel Aviv to study abroad for a year, so I moved into her house. She moved out all of her stuff (except for a fabulous orange couch), and it’s been really fun to make the place feel like my home by putting my own personality and style into it. Because it is a temporary space, I put a lot of work into it at the beginning so I could get settled in quickly.

Amanda & Matthew’s Nest of Collectibles

Name: Amanda and Matthew (and Severus the cat) Location: Ferndale, Michigan Size: 950 square feet Years lived in: 1.5 years; rented While photographing Amanda and Matthew’s second-floor apartment, I tried to define the overall theme of their collection. I saw floral prints on oven mitts and furniture. I noticed animals – both stuffed and printed on textiles. There were bowls of Japanese candies and lots of colors.
