Finn’s DIY Domain
Name: Finn Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado When we moved cross-country for the third time, we knew that Finn HAD to have some serious attention paid to his own space. The poor guy has watched us remodel bathrooms, a kitchen and his sister’s room; but he was never the star of the show. My husband wanted to theme the dickens out of Finn’s room, but I was pretty stringent on sticking with something that could easily grow and evolve with the little guy.

A No-Rules Nursery in the Netherlands
Name: Baby R Location: Leiden, The Netherlands Room Size: About 11 square meters I’ve always been drawn to Dutch and Scandinavian-style spaces. There’s just something about the bright whites, vivid pops of color, and amazing vintage pieces mixed in with the modern decor. Baby R’s nursery is no exception. Fuchsia drapes, bold patterned wallpaper, fabulous frocks, and washi taped walls – this space has it all. How would you describe the look and feel of this room? Fun!

Olive’s Creatively Colorful Abode
Name: Olive Sydney Location: Florence, Alabama Room Size: 12′ x15′ I’m often conflicted when it comes to children’s spaces in that I love the clean, bright aesthetic of a white space, but I’m also partial to bold color. So when I came across this room from parents Tera and Wes of Armosa Studios, I was thrilled to find the best of both worlds. How would you describe the look and feel of this room? The look of the room is bright and happy.

Cruz’s Modern Geometric Masterpiece
Name: Cruz Stanton Barros Location: Murrieta, California Room Size: 13′ x 10′ When I learned that Priscila Barros, editor-in-chief of Babiekins Magazine was pregnant, I knew that an amazing nursery was in the works. By combining modern geometric patterns with warm colors and textures, she and decorator Amy Fjeldsted created a cozy vibe for her son Cruz that is perfectly on trend.

5 Strategies to Keep the House Clean (and Your Sanity Intact!) with Young Kids
I don’t know about you, but my kids are not the type to sit and play quietly on their own while I tidy up the house. My oldest daughter (soon to be four) is my constant shadow – if I’m not sitting on the floor playing princess or barn with her she likes to get involved in whatever it is that I am doing. Whether it’s cooking, putting the baby down for a nap, or cleaning – she’s there too.

Aidan’s Dreamy Room in Germany
Name: Aidan Location: Northern Germany in Hannover Room Size: 4.7 x 3.2 meters (15 x 10 feet) I’m a long-time fan of the work of Holly Becker of Decor8, so I was thrilled to find out she was pregnant and working on a nursery. By choosing the main focal points first, like the stunning Kite wallpaper by Ferm Living and the gorgeous crib by Oeuf, Holly was able to work from there to create a dreamy and cohesive gender-neutral space for baby Aidan.

Before & After: Finn’s Bright and Airy Nursery Transformation
With baby Finn on the way, mom Kelli of Purple Tree Photography wanted to transform the family’s unused third bedroom into a nursery for their new addition. After many coats of paint and a lot of hard work, the space has been transformed into a bright and airy oasis for their beautiful baby boy. I think my favorite part is the pop of color in the small nook above the crib – it went from being the biggest eyesore of the space to its greatest asset.

Before & After: Carter’s Nursery Grows Up
Kim wanted to update her son Carter’s nursery into a big boy room. They never used the room except for sleeping, and it was stuffed with forgotten gifts and baby gear. Kim knew she wanted the new space to be light and airy and to reflect Carter’s personality and interests, so she painted the walls a bright white, added a splash of Carter’s favorite color on the ceiling, and added fresh accessories: What a stunning transformation! Thank you Kim!

Cottage Chic Meets Glam in Wren’s Room
Name: Wren Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Room Size: 130 square feet I’ve followed Holly Baker of In the Fun Lane for years now, and have always admired her style. She masterfully combines the cottage/shabby chic aesthetic with a more glam/modern look throughout her home, and her daughter Wren’s room is no exception. How would you describe the look and feel of this room?

Your Home is Making You Late: 12 Things You Can Do the Night Before
I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely not a morning person, so I probably hit the snooze button a half dozen times before actually getting out of bed. This means that I have a very small window of time in which to get ready and get out of the house in the morning. To combat this time crunch, I try to streamline my morning routine by prepping as much as possible the night before. Here are a few key things that you can do around the house the night before to avoid being late. 1.

Henrik’s Bright, Colorful Abode
Name: Henrik Location: Utah Room Size: “I’m so bad at guessing.” What happens when you combine your child’s personality with a keen eye for decorating and a little ingenuity? Pure magic. That’s exactly what mom, Meta Coleman of One More Mushroom did when she designed her son Henrik’s room. Henrik loves pirates, ships, and exploring, so Meta chose Ralph Lauren’s Out to Sea wallpaper to set the tone for the space.

Jack’s Modern Adventurous Abode
Name: Jack (3) Location: Dallas, TX Room Size: 11′ x 12′ How do you blend a modern aesthetic with the wild spirit of a romping, play-in-the-dirt three-year-old boy? Just ask Ginny Chase of Chasing Sunshine. She artfully created a clean, modern black and white bedroom for her son Jack without losing any of the playfulness or fun that comes along with being three – no small feat as a renter.

Addison’s White & Bright Charmer
Name: Addison (5) Location: Dallas, TX Room Size: 12×14 There are so many things about Addison’s room that I love – the bright, white color palette, pops of fun color, and the amazing marquee letter to name a few. But perhaps the most impressive thing is that her mom, Ginny, was able to create such a happy, vibrant, and personal space in their lovely rental home.

A Small, Smart Space for Judah & Layla
Name: Judah (4) & Layla (3) Location: Senoia, Georgia Room Size: 110 sq ft Judah and Layla’s shared space is about the same size as my daughter’s small nursery (albeit a bit taller), so I was amazed with how their mother Keight was able to make the space serve so many different functions. It’s a bedroom, a playroom, an arts and crafts space, and a general hangout.

Ruby’s Gorgeously Glam Nursery
Name: Ruby Location: Valley Village, CA Room Size: 12′ x 12′ Ruby’s nursery had me at hello. From the glamorous chandelier to the pattern play throughout the space, it isn’t your typical baby room by any stretch of the imagination. Even though the space looks very high-end, I love that Ruby’s mom Rachelle was able to save some money by searching sites like Craigslist and Etsy for budget-friendly versions of the pricier pieces that she loved.

Wyatt’s Bright & Bold Abode
Name: Wyatt (6 Months) Location: Tustin, California Room Size: 10×12 ft While I’m not usually a fan of primary-colored nurseries, I was absolutely smitten from the moment I stumbled across this happy space that Whitney Johnson created for her baby boy, Wyatt. By starting with a black and white base and adding small pops of primary colors throughout the space, she kept the room feeling colorful and happy without making it feel too saturated or busy.

Johnny and Freddie’s Cozy Collected Shared Room
Name: Johnny (3.5) and Freddie (7) Location: Mt Eliza, Victoria, Australia Room Size: 12′ x 10′ I tend to think of myself as an “eclectic” person when it comes to decor – mainly meaning that I can’t settle on a particular style. I love the clean lines and fresh colors of modern spaces but at the same time am drawn to the warmth and coziness of a more rustic design.

Freia’s Cozy, Colorful Corner in the Master Bedroom
Name: Freia Location: Berkeley, California Room Size: Tiny! Her corner is probably 5′ x 5′ feet at most, but it is part of our main bedroom (that part is probably 6′ x 8′) When I first discovered little Freia’s nursery, I never would have guessed it was but a tiny corner of the master bedroom in mom Audrey’s two-bedroom rental.

Oscar’s Bright, Bold Abode
Name: Oscar (5) Location: Den Bosch, the Netherlands Room Size: 3.5 x 3.5 meters I’m not sure if it was the bright yellow bed, the wall of beautiful books, or the fabulous wallpaper, but it was love at first sight when I laid eyes on Oscar’s room. I’ve always been drawn to spaces that combine both vintage and modern pieces, and I absolutely adore both bright white spaces and those filled with bold colors. This room is the perfect union of all of those elements.

Baby G’s Bright, Playful Space
Name: Baby G Location: Bologna, Italy Room Size: 4.5 x 3.5 meters I love coming across a nursery that incorporates all of my favorite elements—white and bright, yet colorful, a nice mix of both modern and vintage, and most importantly, something that is whimsical and playful enough for a child to enjoy. Alessandra of Almalu’s Place did just that when she created a nursery for her precious little bambino.

Vivian’s Vivacious Nursery
Name: Vivian (2) Location: San Francisco, CA Room Size: 12’x14’ I immediately fell in love with Vivian’s nursery when I first came across it — I loved that the space looked like something I’d want for myself, but still felt colorful, happy, and fun enough to be equally perfect for a little one.

Nina’s Little House Nursery
Name: Nina James Location: Johannesburg, South Africa When I first came across this South African nursery, I was dying to know who made the adorable little house bed. I was certainly very surprised to learn that the bed is actually going to become a crib and is a DIY project created by Nina James’ talented parents! It’s definitely the focal point of this unique, modern nursery, but the rest of the space is full of wonderful little surprises as well.

George’s Magical Woodland Nursery
Name: George (1) Location: Los Angeles, California Room Size: 11′ x 12′ There’s really nothing more magical than childhood, so it seems quite fitting when I come across a child’s room that feels more like a wonderland than a simple spot to sleep. Maybe it’s the twinkle lights or perhaps it’s the unicorn, but there’s something about this sweet nursery that is just so dreamy. How would you describe the look and feel of this room?

Jasper’s Bold, Beachy Abode
Name: Jasper (7) Location: Sydney, Australia Room Size: 3m x 3.2m I always admire when a kid’s room is reflective of his interests, but still manages to be stylish. That’s one thing I’ve always struggled with reconciling — throwing Elsa and Anna all over the place and painting the room Barney purple just isn’t my idea of fun. Luckily I think my daughter and I have struck a good balance, and I bet the same can be said of Jasper and his mom, Simone.

I can’t believe we’re here at last – we’ve finally (after nine years–eek!) finished renovating and decorating the last room in our little Cape Cod home! We saved our own room for last, of course. The kids’ rooms have been beautiful for years, the first floor is completely redone, but our own space has been plain-Jane for as long as I can remember.

8 Tips for Moving with Kids
After years of talking about it, we’re finally diving headfirst into the process of moving. Although we love our little house, our family has outgrown it, and we’d all like some room to breathe. My first task was to pack up some of the clutter that we’ve accumulated over the years to get the house ready for potential buyers. As I filled the first box, my ever curious four-year-old asked, “What are you doing, Mommy?

DIY Halloween: 17 Awesome Costumes You Can Make from Stuff Around the House
There’s just something about making your kids’ Halloween costumes. Growing up my mom always made ours (out of necessity — not because she enjoyed it!) and looking back at those photos, our costumes always just felt special. They weren’t always complicated — one year my mom bought a giant box of Tide, cut out holes for my sister’s head, arms, and legs, and called it a day. It wasn’t the fanciest costume in the neighborhood, but it was one of a kind.

Avery’s Cozy Alcove
Name: Avery Location: Seattle, Washington Room Size: 9.5 x 13 I have a special place in my heart for nurseries with dark walls. Ryan and April managed to do just that when they created this lovely nursery for their baby girl, Samantha Rose.

With warm weather finally here, the wheels in my mind have been turning thinking of fun ways to get my little ones outdoors as much as possible. My Small Home: Lauren’s Small Space Solutions
1000 square feet for a family of four sounds completely reasonable, but these days, it’s started to feel a bit cramped.
