Freia’s Cozy, Colorful Corner in the Master Bedroom
Name: Freia Location: Berkeley, California Room Size: Tiny! Her corner is probably 5′ x 5′ feet at most, but it is part of our main bedroom (that part is probably 6′ x 8′) When I first discovered little Freia’s nursery, I never would have guessed it was but a tiny corner of the master bedroom in mom Audrey’s two-bedroom rental.

Maxwell’s Mix of Old & New
Name: Maxwell Location: Austin, Texas Room Size: 200 square feet My favorite nurseries include a mix of old and new, handmade pieces and family heirlooms. Baby Maxwell’s nursery is a perfect example. With a trendy triangle accent wall, a classic Jenny Lind crib, vintage dresser/changing table, and loads of DIY projects throughout the space, the space feels like it was put together over time rather than lifted from a showroom floor. Johnny and Freddie’s Cozy Collected Shared Room
Name: Johnny (3.5) and Freddie (7) Location: Mt Eliza, Victoria, Australia Room Size: 12′ x 10′ I tend to think of myself as an “eclectic” person when it comes to decor – mainly meaning that I can’t settle on a particular style. I love the clean lines and fresh colors of modern spaces but at the same time am drawn to the warmth and coziness of a more rustic design.

From the glamorous chandelier to the pattern play throughout the space, it isn’t your typical baby room by any stretch of the imagination. Even though the space looks very high-end, I love that Ruby’s mom Rachelle was able to save some money by searching sites like Craigslist and Etsy for budget-friendly versions of the pricier pieces that she loved.

Let me let you in on a little secret…filling your home with beautiful artwork can be easier and cheaper than you think. Just give a paint set to the smallest artist in your life and let them have at it. Add a frame, create a gallery wall, or just tape it to the wall willy nilly – it matters not. The important part is to find a place that is deserving of its inhabitance.

My Small Home: Lauren’s Small Space Solutions
1000 square feet for a family of four sounds completely reasonable, but these days, it’s started to feel a bit cramped. As our family has grown we’ve simply had to get more creative with how we organize our space. While we’re very lucky to have three bedrooms, two of them lack a real closet space and are very oddly shaped. (The joys of living in an older home!).

Taming Toys: A Fresh Start for 2014
The day after Christmas, I looked around my house and thought to myself, “What have we done?” I thought we had been reasonable in what we had purchased for our daughters this year – some blocks, books, a pirate ship, and some things for their play kitchen and dollhouse, but I totally forgot about all of the toys they get from grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends.
