This Backyard Pod Can Be Assembled in One Day

After many had to set up a home office during the pandemic, the demand for detached backyard office spaces began booming in 2020 and into 2021. And though many companies answered the call, Autonomous, an office space-centric company, created a backyard “Pod” that, for the most part, doesn’t need a permit, and can be assembled in a single day without the help of a construction team. 

The company has created four Pod models with the most basic starting at $19,000 per kit. It’s a 98-square-foot structure that offers just enough space for an office, a guest house, a home gym or artist studio.

Though the price may seem a bit steep for the amount of space you get, Pod comes with all the fixings you need to stay productive and comfortable. Each Pod comes pre-wired for electricity and is equipped with air conditioning, heating, lighting, and electrical outlets. Just plug it in to your main source of power, and you’re good to go.

It’s also fully insulated and ready to withstand -16-degree temperatures and highs of 122 degrees. The exterior is made from weatherproof materials, and the Pod can be placed on any terrain, no matter how level it is. There’s no need for a concrete foundation. Pod is even outfitted to be used as a viable vacation rental.
