In a world where everyone is repurposing and making over things in their home, diy’s are a dime a dozen. So it’s always special when we come across one that stops us in our tracks and has us reading the entire tutorial. You won’t ever look at foam flooring pieces the same way again after you see what these are magically turned into!

Yesterday over at Design*Sponge we saw this really rad rug makeover scroll past our screen. As we beep beep backed up the blog reader, the details of what we were really looking at became clear.

This super bold and beautiful rug wasn’t even a rug at all! It was foam flooring that’s usually found in ridiculously over the top, primary colors. Instead, it’s been painted to actually go with a normal human’s decor and the results are simply fabulous.

You can find this kind of foam tiles most places children’s toys are sold (big box stores, ToysRus and so forth) but more importantly, Craigslist. We see them all the time and since quality won’t matter (who cares if Winnie the Pooh’s face is scratched off from wear and tear) as you’ll be painting over them, you should be able to pick them up on the cheap! Check out all the details (trust us you’ll want to) over at Sarah Wandering the maker and mastermind behind this transformation.
