I’ve taken trip after trip to my local Re-Store and always take a moment to gaze at the pile of unloved cabinet doors. My husband and I have purchased a few in the past to mount artwork on or paint up for other projects — but we never had the vision to see their true potential: hot honeycomb shelving!

Joshua and Sara Rhodes make up the dynmaic duo of Arrow & Apple and they’re always up to something wonderful. Recently they rescued a pile of old cabinet doors from an old warehouse (for free no less!) and took them to the table saw. A few cuts later and a bit of framing hardware from their local retailer, an amazing set of honeycomb shelving was born.

They make a big impact on the wall above their sofa and the soft pops of color from days gone by brighten up the space and bring life to this large wall with the whisper of history. It’s an amazing project that is doable with inexpensive resources and will give you hot shelving instead of something a little more ho-hum. Check out Arrow & Apple for more details and loads of beautiful photos of this project.
