Houseplants are a go-to decorating trick for designers and DIYers alike, and no wonder: A strategically placed houseplant or two can add some much-needed life and interest to almost any space. And if you want a little drama? Well, they can do that, too — especially if you reach for a giant, statement-making houseplant.

Those huge houseplants can be a lot more difficult to work with than petite tabletop versions, though. For one, they’re often heavy enough that moving them around poses a challenge — not ideal if you like to move your houseplants outside for the summer, or if you need to move plants around while you clean. Thankfully, there’s an easy solution for that, and it’s pretty darn affordable, too. Instead of letting your large potted houseplants sit directly on the floor, you need a plant caddy.

What is a plant caddy?

A plant caddy is a saucer or stand fitted with wheels, made to sit underneath a potted plant. If you put your planter on a plant caddy, you can easily move the whole assembly around whenever you need. You might also see them marketed under the name “plant dolly.”

Where do you find a plant caddy?

Plant caddies are available at plenty of home decor and home improvement stores and are easy to find online, too. As with most houseplant accessories, you’ll find plant caddies at a wide range of prices — as little as $20 for a three-pack, or in the over-$50 range.
