Maybe I just have Halloween on my mind, but when I saw this listing for sale I immediately thought I wish I could decorate this home for Halloween. Take a look and I think you’ll know what I mean. Halloween decorations come in two camps: foam gravestones, skeleton hands reaching out of the ground, and whatever this is, versus cute little pumpkin figurines, hayride window clings, and candles that spell out “Boo.”

And this vintage California cabin would be ideal for either. The wood fireplace, wood paneling, wooded surroundings — all of it is endlessly charming, cozy, and is calling to me as the ultimate autumn refuge.

Imagine a couple of these dancing skeleton pillows perched on an antique settee in the living room? It just feels right. The whole main living area is open, making the 500-square-foot floor plan feel large and inviting. Wood paneling hugs the walls and ceiling, casting a yellowish light around the room.

Details like an apron kitchen sink, rustic built-in shelving, and a fireplace tucked into the corner amp up the coziness. As does, I kid you not, a miniature portrait of a mouse reading a book by candlelight painted onto one of the baseboards. Suddenly, I want to be a tiny mouse reading a book!

Other features, like the lofted bedroom, the bathroom with stained glass and walls made of wooden crates, and ample windows all around add to the home’s unique charm.

In the bedroom area of the main level, the ceiling opens up to match the roofline, which, along with lilac walls and an antler-like light fixture, gives this section a bright, airy feel. A glass door opens up onto the spacious deck, where you can look out onto the tiered garden beds and immerse yourself in the pine trees all around.
