You Can Slide Down an Actual Pole in This Converted Fire Truck

I think it’s accurate to say I’m slightly obsessed with things that aren’t homes being converted into a homes. That’s why you’ve seen everything from a former prison bus turned mobile home, to a converted van, to a school bus turned tiny home featured on Apartment Therapy. I’m very happy to share a first for the site: a converted former fire truck.

Alas, unfortunately this isn’t an actual home…it’s a vacation home you can rent called the Red Rescue Retreat, and it’s located in the Lake District National Park, close to the country village of Threlkel and set at the base of a hill (with views of the hill).

Perhaps because it’s not someone’s permanent address, it’s loaded with very adorable fire truck-themed decor elements, like a firefighter’s pole (which you absolutely can actually slide down) and a children’s bedroom with twin fire-truck style beds.

Though the space is heavy on firefighting vibes, there is a surprisingly sleek and modern all-wood sauna, a chill patio deck, and a modern kitchen.

So while it isn’t really an inspiration for my own home’s decor, it definitely speaks to my inner child and is a fun place to dream of possibly staying in on my next UK trip.
