This $150 Faux Banana Tree From Costco Looks So Real
For those without a green thumb, artificial plants are a good alternative. They last longer, are just as attractive, and you won’t have to remember to water it.
Costco is selling an artificial banana tree that looks so good, you’d think it’s the real thing. A video on Instagram by @costcohotfinds shows the product on display at her local store. Even up close, it’s hard to tell the difference from the actual tree, with the item’s leaves accurate in size, shape, and even texture.
“What’s the next best thing to living in a tropical paradise,” the company wrote. “Bringing a piece of paradise into your home. Our tropical banana tree rises to the occasion.”
According to Costco, the faux houseplant is six and a half feet tall and have wire inserts inside its leaves so you can adjust them as you please. They added: “Easy to assemble, and perfectly displayed in a modern cream planter.”
Better hurry, a lot of people have — should I say — gone bananas over the product, quickly rushing over to their nearest Costco to buy one. Others, though, aren’t convinced by its $150 price tag.
“It better grow bananas for $150!!” someone commented, to which @costcohotfinds replied: “A good fake plant is soo expensive.”
Still, for gardeners who somehow always manage to kill their houseplants, faux might be better than buying new ones every month or so. If you find Costco’s artificial banana tree a-peel-ing (I’m sorry), you can get it here.
