Cottagecore Remains the Most Popular Interior Design Trend in the U.S., According to One Study
When it comes to interior design, it seems that pandemic-inspired trends still reign supreme. One of 2020’s biggest design phenomena, cottagecore, still has a hold on the hearts and Google searches of Americans, and it’s clear the charming, country-inspired aesthetic is here to stay for the foreseeable future.
Cottagecore has been trending on social media since the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, with homeowners embracing the vintage-inspired addition of florals and warm, cozy vibes inspired by life’s simpler pleasures, including crafting and time in nature.
According to the Interior Trends 2022 Report by Living Cozy, cottagecore takes the crown for the top interior design trend, racking up a whopping 1,862,000 Google searches in the past year alone. The trend is so beloved, in fact, that it has more than 1.2 million searches above the second decor trend, which is equally pandemic-inspired.
Nature-inspired wallpaper came in second place with 640,000 Google searches, proving that people are all about bringing the outdoors in, especially if they’re spending more time at home. Wallpaper prints featuring various types of flora and fauna blend classic with modern, and it’s clear that the trend is here to stay.
In third place with 428,400 Google searches is “home office,” which makes sense given the widespread shift to work-from-home life over the span of the past two and a half years.
The report also looked at up and coming trends that are sure to see surges as big as cottagecore soon, including Japandi design, irregular rugs, and cobalt blue dressers.
