This Small-Space-Friendly Outdoor Furniture Set Replaced My Old, Rusty One (It’s Packed with Storage!)
I am lucky enough to have a small, private outdoor space connected to my apartment in Brooklyn. When I moved into my apartment I got a cheap set of outdoor-friendly furniture (that included a loveseat, two chairs, and a coffee table) that I wouldn’t care about getting snow or rain on, and called it a day. It worked well enough and was the preferred sunbathing spot for my sweet dog, Blueberry. But the set wasn’t very comfortable (after all, it was essentially mesh and a frame) and it lacked function for both me and summer guests.
Plus, because I needed something small-space-friendly — our deck is just about 8 feet by 12 feet — the loveseat part of the set was not long enough for me to lie down on and comfortably take a nap or read a book on beautiful days. I knew that the furniture set wasn’t exactly what I wanted, but I didn’t want to get anything massive because I don’t know what my next space will look like.
So if I upgraded my outdoor space, it would have to be a truly flexible find. When I had the opportunity to test Cozey’s new outdoor furniture line, the Shinuk — modular, cushioned outdoor furniture that aligned way more with my actual style — I pretty much jumped at it.
A Quick Look at the Cozey Shinuk

Features That Stand Out
I chose the shoreline green fabric with the fern green base and went with a sectional design, an ottoman, and a coffee table. It looks absolutely fabulous, in my opinion, and can host many guests and use-cases comfortably. Every single piece of the furniture set has waterproof storage underneath the seat cushion (or, in the coffee table’s case, the tabletop), which is perfect for if you need to keep grill tools, yard supplies, or outdoor hosting furniture outside. And the wicker weave looks super-luxe while being easily cleanable, as it’s not actually made of wood.
The sectional was easy to assemble, and each box came numbered and labeled so I knew exactly what box to open next as I built out my furniture set.
The bases of each piece came already assembled, and to put together the sectional, ottoman, and coffee table I simply had to screw on legs, tie the storage bags into the base of each piece of furniture, slip Velcro straps through the base covers if applicable, and hook each piece of furniture together. I was able to put most of the sofa together on my own, and needed zero tools. All in all, assembly probably took about two hours, but if I had done it with a partner I would have been able to knock it out way faster.
My only complaint about the process is that covering the seat cushions with the fabric was extremely difficult. The fabric was very, very tight over the cushions, and it was a two-person job to zip these cushions over the seats — a job that left our hands very tired and our fingers super sore. But we did manage to get them all on, and hopefully the fabric stretches out over the seats over time so that when I take them off to machine-wash them, it’s not a fight like it was the first time.
How It Performed
After the setup was complete, our patio immediately felt more functional for having guests, without feeling cramped at all. The set is, of course, larger than what we had before, but the fact that I can arrange and rearrange the seating to look like almost anything to my heart’s content will work great for the next time I have to move.
The cushions are firm but deep and comfortable, and we’re able to host more people on our deck for dinner or snacks on a Friday night. Best of all, I’m able to take my beloved reading or nap breaks on my deck in the afternoon on sunny, warm days — and I absolutely have been taking full advantage.
The cushions are easy to cover with their individual weather coverings, which is great, because our patio is uncovered. Plus, it’s super easy to remove the cushions from the sofa set to dust them off from pollen and leaves, or to move them under an awning if you don’t have the furniture cover set (which costs extra, about $180 depending on your furniture format). The cushions are weather-resistant, but I like to make sure my nice things last — and continued exposure to rain, dust, wind, and sun will wear them down eventually.
I love the double green look of my sofa set. It really pops against the red brick of my building and the black material that covers my deck.
What we love
- Tool-free setup that one person can do for most of assembly
- Waterproof cushions, covers, and framing make it a truly outdoor furniture set
- Comfortable, firm, deep cushion sets
- Endlessly customizable
Good to know
- Cushion covers were extremely challenging to zip over cushions
- Conjoining the furniture is a little tricky and takes two hands
Should YOU Buy the Cozey Shinuk Outdoor Furniture Collection?
If you’re looking for cushioned, weatherproof outdoor furniture that is customizable, I would definitely recommend checking out the Cozey Shinuk line. Even if you just want to get two armed seats and a coffee table, this set delivers on style, performance, and endless modularity if you’re someone who likes to change things up or, like me, face moving around in the future.
The set is a legitimate upgrade from cheaper, mesh, cushion-less sets like the one I had before, so if you want to buy a cheap beater set that you don’t care about rusting or getting destroyed by the elements, then I’m not sure this is the fit for you. But the set is clearly durable and well-made, and has made our outdoor space way more functional for naps, outdoor happy hours, and for my sweet dog’s sunbathing schedule. All in all, if you’re looking for a furniture set that’s equal parts luxury and practicality, then this is a good furniture set to consider.
