I Put a Dollar Tree Pill Organizer on My Fridge, and It’s a Game-Changer

As someone who takes vitamins and prescription medications daily, I’m always trying to figure out the best hack for fitting them into my routine. A few weeks ago, I was on a streak — I would place the pill bottles out on my counter at night to take in the morning before heading to the gym. But on some days, I’m so bleary-eyed pre-coffee, I couldn’t remember if I took them or not. I would also forget to leave the bottles out at the end of an especially hectic day. 

While I was searching for a better solution, I spotted this tip on Apartment Therapy that I knew would help me sort it all out: keeping a Dollar Tree pill organizer on my fridge.

In the original video, creator Sarah Mitchell slides a small round 7-day pill organizer into a round magnetic container, each $1.25 from Dollar Tree, to make a magnetic pill organizer that she sticks on her fridge. Brilliant! 

With the pill organizer in plain sight, I knew I would never forget to take my daily meds again. Plus, it’s so cute and comes in three pastel colors: pink, mint green, and melon. I headed to my local Dollar Tree to re-create the hack.

I opted to buy both the pill organizer and the round magnetic container in mint green, as it matches the cool color palette of my kitchen the best. I popped my daily vitamins and medications into the pill organizer and put it in the magnetic container, which fit perfectly, and placed it on the fridge high enough to be out of reach of kids and pets. Now, when I wake up, I just go to the fridge to take my meds, with water and glasses conveniently nearby. And if I forget if I took them? I just check the compartment for that day. There’s no more second-guessing myself or risking missing a day of medication. I refill the organizer for the week every Sunday.

Anyone who takes medication or vitamins on a daily basis will benefit from this simple pill organizer hack. You’ll never forget to take your pills, and you won’t have bottles cluttering your bathroom or kitchen counters. Plus, it really is so adorable; you’ll love having the pop of color on your fridge. This trick has worked so well for me that I plan on heading back to Dollar Tree to buy another one for my pup Lucky’s allergy medications. (In a different color, of course, so I can tell them apart.)
