I write about house tours (but I love a good kitchen and kids' room article). My work can be found across AT Media, including The Kitchn and Cubby. I’ve been writing about home-related topics for nearly five years and love seeing how people make their homes unique.

It can sometimes be a challenge to bring color into a bathroom, especially if you’re renting, aren’t up for painting the walls, or have no windows to add curtains or shades to. But similar to kitchens, bathrooms are often begging for more color to make these functional space feel cozy and less sterile, especially since it’s the room where you probably start and end your day.

If you’re interested in adding color to your bathroom but don’t know where to start, I have a simple solution if you can’t or don’t want to take on a home project. It’s luxurious and an item that’ll likely get a lot of use (not to mention attention!): Dusen Dusen’s House Stripe Towels

Named one of  the best textiles in Apartment Therapy’s recent Small/Cool Design Awards, these (reversible!) striped towels burst with vibrancy — each side has a different striped color scheme. The brand carries five different available combos, including a neutral cream and white design that rotates to show a red and white striped pattern, or a brighter teal and cream pairing with turquoise and burgundy stripes on the back. Whether hanging on a towel rack or folded neatly on open shelving, Dusen Dusen’s towels double as decor to add a bit of energy into any blah bath.

You can choose from several sizes, too, including hand towels, a washcloth, bath towels, or a set of all five for $168. And not only are the towels gorgeous to look at, but they’re also super cozy and warm. Made in Portugal, each one features a soft-to-the-touch, 100% cotton terry material. They’re sizable, too — the bath towel measures 30×56 inches, and the hand towels are 20×30 inches.”

I have a set of the hand towels in my own bathroom, and I get compliments every time I host guests. As a New York City renter, I can’t make major design  changes, but these simple yet stunning towels make a big statement in the otherwise bland room. (Plus, the towels were so cozy that I even splurged on Dusen Dusen’s delicious-feeling bathrobe, too!).

If you want to instantly add more color to your bathroom, it’s as simple as buying a Dusen Dusen striped towel (or the full set!), starting at $28 for an individual hand towel. They’re cozy, colorful, and sure to make your guests (and you) smile. Plus, it’s like having two towels in one, since you can always rotate between the different sides to mix up the pops of color on your towel rack.
