Spring is my favorite time of the year here in New York. I can finally walk around outside without hurrying to escape the cold, the parks are absolutely stunning, and my heater stays switched off, saving me some money on my energy bill. Everything is starting to look up! Well, almost everything. There is one thing that puts a damper on spring and has me almost wishing for winter to come back: allergies.

Trees produce the most pollen from February to April, and here, it peaks in the next few weeks and goes on until early summer. Thankfully, there are a number of ways you can get your home ready: hypoallergenic bedding, a HEPA-filtered vacuum, and constant dusting. In regards to that last one, you can make allergy season even easier on yourself with an air purifier.

I know, that’s a pretty obvious essential for getting through this time of year, but like many other appliances, shopping for an air purifier isn’t all that simple. It can be the difference between the season being tolerable or not, so you want to make sure it’s actually powerful. If you want to make your space as comfortable as possible, consider Dyson’s HP10. Dozens of shoppers agree that this purifier does the trick — and it triples as a heater and fan!

What Is the Dyson HP10 Air Purifier, Heater & Fan with Extra Filter?

As longtime fans of Dyson’s vacuums, Apartment Therapy editors can confirm that though the price is definitely up there, the quality is, too. Dyson products are investments that will pay off quickly, and the HP10 Purifier Hot + Cool Gen 1 is no exception based on its wide range of features and positive reviews.

It uses a fully sealed filter system, combining an activated carbon filter and glass HEPA filter to capture 99.97% of allergens. Even if they’re as small as 0.3 microns, they’ll be pulled from the air and into this purifier. Whether you’re trying to keep your space clear of dust, pet dander, or smoke — or maybe all of the above — this gadget will get the job done. You can make it a perfect fit for your space with its adjustable oscillation and airflow speed and night settings. And you’ll always know that it’s doing its thing because it displays the real-time air quality and filter status on its LCD screen.

In my opinion, the most impressive element is that it’ll allow you to throw out your current tower fan and space heater, which will free up so much room in your home. If you live in a smaller space like I do — or you just want to cut down on clutter — then you know the value of a good multipurpose find. Especially one that looks as sleek as the HP10, which can squeeze into narrow spaces at only about 10 inches wide and deep.

What QVC Shoppers Are Saying

Average Rating: 4/5

“This works really great, heats the room beautifully, and cools it down when we need it in summer. This was one room in the house that was either very cold or very hot. We had the HVAC people try to correct it, but I wish I would’ve saved the $300 they charged me. This was worth the money. And the HEPA filter is a real plus.” —El New Jersey

“My son suffers from allergies and has since he was a baby. This air purifier has done wonders for our son and his ongoing allergies. Since purchasing the air purifier, he no longer coughs in the night enabling him to sleep longer and better. Good source of heat for the addition to our home as well!” —Rd53

“We recently bought a 93-year-old home in Denver, and the heat and AC is very uneven. We researched extra heating sources and went with Dyson because of its reputation. We’re really happy with the Hot & Cool Gen 1. It’s quiet, it doesn’t overheat the room, and it is easy to operate.” —Shainzona

I think about it this way: It does the job of three appliances, and when $400 is divided by three, it makes the fan, heater, and purifier cost under $150 a piece. Plus, I know that I’ll be able to rely on it during every season and for years, which saves me the cost of replacing it. And don’t forget, QVC has a code (WELCOME15) for an extra $15 off!
