white living room with white sofa, black, neutral and white decor, and lots of curved edge furniture

Four years ago, I was in the middle of a move and urgently needed storage that wouldn’t take up much space. I didn’t want another bulky shelf or plastic bin that would clash with my furniture, so I took a chance on the FSOBEIIALEO Folding Storage Ottoman Cube. I figured it would be a temporary fix — something to corral the chaos until I settled in and found “real” furniture. Instead, this little cube stuck around and proved itself endlessly useful — over the years, I’ve found a way to use it in nearly every room.

What Is the FSOBEIIALEO Storage Cube?

At first glance, it looks like a simple cube-shaped ottoman with a fabric exterior and a cushioned lid. But pop the top, and it’s actually a compact, collapsible storage container with a surprisingly roomy interior. It’s made of durable MDF panels, folds flat when not in use, and the padded lid means it doubles as a seat, table, or footrest. It comes in several neutral colors and cozy finishes (mine’s a faux linen), and it blends into pretty much any decor. But what really makes it an absolute gem is how versatile it is.

Why I love the FSOBEIIALEO Storage Cube

The cube’s foldable design has made it easy to store or repurpose somewhere else whenever I switch up a space. It’s migrated from room to room as my needs have changed. Here’s how I’ve used it throughout my home.

The bedroom

I originally bought the cube for the foot of my bed. I didn’t have much closet nor dresser storage, and it was perfect for holding spare pillows, extra linens, and pajamas. It’s not bulky and quietly kept that little corner of my room calmer (and cleaner).

The living room

I also added the cube to the living room to hold things like TV remotes and throw blankets. It’s low-profile enough to tuck beside the couch, and I loved having a soft spot to rest my feet at the end of the day.

In the office

In my tiny WFH setup, I needed storage that wouldn’t eat up valuable floor space. This cube sat neatly under my desk and held charging cords, notebooks, and other office supplies I’d otherwise leave out in the open. Bonus: It easily slid out and was used as a stool whenever I needed an extra seat.

Under the window

I later used the cube to anchor my narrow window bench. It’s the perfect footrest/cushion combo and added hidden storage for seasonal odds and ends (scarves, candles, and cozy socks). It made the nook feel finished and functional without cluttering it with decor.

By the bookshelf

Nowadays, my cube sits next to our bookshelf. I read a lot — which means I’m constantly accumulating books I intend to read, but haven’t quite shelved yet. Instead of piling them on the floor or overloading the bookshelf, I now stash them inside the cube. It keeps my “to be read” stack close by but neatly put away. The cube’s flat top even works as a little table to keep those I’m currently reading in sight and ready to pick back up whenever.

What started as a stopgap during a stressful move turned into a long-term organizing staple and has adapted effortlessly as my space (and life) changed. For such a small, affordable buy, this cube has done a lot of heavy lifting — literally and figuratively.
