After six years of working from home, I finally got a desk earlier this year. Now that I have my own workspace, I’ve been able to decide which desk accessories make my erratic schedule most efficient. Turns out, the most helpful one has been a versatile little light!

Like many people, I’m not a fan of the “big light,” especially when it comes to my workday. As a night owl, I prefer working late, usually after 9 p.m., when everything is quieter, I’m showered and relaxed, and I’ve completed all my errands and chores for the day. But working so late was always a struggle in my previous apartments, as I had to rely on a dim floor lamp or the kitchen light.

Because I already wear eyeglasses, I knew this habit wasn’t ideal for my eye health, so I went in search of a solution to pair with my new desk. That’s when I stumbled upon the Hapfish Battery Powered Wall Light, which is a long adhesive light. I noticed many reviewers used this light in their closets, laundry rooms, and kitchen pantries, so I knew it’d work perfectly in my tiny workspace.

The adhesive strip has a built-in hook for a magnet holder that keeps the actual light bar in place. I was impressed with how strong and stable the adhesive and magnet were — I’ve never had to worry about it falling on my laptop as I worked. It also came with a remote control that allows me to adjust the brightness, color temperature (cool, natural, or warm), and turn on a timer for 15, 30, or 60 minutes. I especially love using the timer feature to stop myself from accidentally working well into the night.

This light has not only reduced my eye strain, but it also gives me a cozy yet well-lit space to work efficiently. I also love that this light mounts under a shelf, rather than being a conventional table lamp that would take up precious desktop real estate.

Although I do wish this light had a longer battery life (it lasts about three-and-a-half to four hours using it on the brightest setting), I wouldn’t change a thing about its overall functionality, look, and the helpfulness it has brought to my work-from-home life. In fact, I love this light so much I’ll be getting one for my makeup vanity!
