Here’s Where to Find all the Cool Stuff from the Shosh in Japan Episode of Girls
The third episode of Girls saw one of the major characters, Shoshanna, relocating to Japan for a new job. This led to some interesting new storylines, and, of course, lots of interesting fashion and design. From the opening scenes with the taking alarm clock and that incredible, playfully designed apartment building, it’s not hard to see why Shoshanna loves Japan. We’ve tracked down some of the best pieces from the episode so you can experience it too.
The adorable talking alarm clock from the episode’s opening scenes is a real thing that you can really buy. It comes in four different colors, each with different personalities — Shoshanna’s is the ‘polite’ one. The bad news for those of us who aren’t bilingual is that the clock only speaks Japanese.
Shosh’s wacky, delightful apartment is in the Reversible Destiny Lofts, about half an hour from Tokyo by train. And the exciting thing (exciting if you’re planning a trip to Japan, anyway) is that you can rent it on AirBnB. (There’s also another, slightly smaller apartment in the same building that’s for rent, and you can also find information about short-term leases on the Lofts’ website.) The colorful apartments are designed with pods rather than rooms, with certain elements intentionally off-kilter to force you to re-think your daily routines.
Shoshanna’s distressed daisy print sweater is sold out, but you can find a similar style at Urban Outfitters.
It’s hard to imagine anyone else looking so good in Hello Kitty headphones, but if you’d like to try, you can find a similar style to the ones Shoshanna has at Amazon for $39.99. (These headphones are also similar, but they’re sold out for the time being. Hello Kitty headphones are hard to come by.)
