Hilary Duff Added an Office Area to Her Bedroom and It’s Minimalist Perfection
Hilary Duff frequently gives glimpses into her Los Angeles home, whether she’s showing off her daughter’s nursery or inspiring major kitchen envy with her unique eye for design. Duff just shared with fans a recent addition to the bedroom she shares with her husband, Matthew Koma, revealing that during her third pregnancy, the room she used as a home office was “taken over,” so she solved the problem by constructing a mini office within her bedroom.
In the caption of her Instagram post, Duff shared that when she got pregnant with her daughter, Mae, her family “took over the only spare room in the house which [she] used as an office and a place for dog crates,” adding, “So I decided to utilize this sweet nook in our bedroom for a small thinking space/office for myself. I loved the idea of a floating desk so everything still felt very light and sleek.”
Duff shared a photo of her new space, taken by photographer Michael Clifford, and credited Los Angeles-based interior design firm MAISON KO with helping her reimagine the space, which features a custom-made brass floating desk and shelving mounted to the wall, where the “Younger” star stores her laptop, desk decor, family photos, and other office essentials. These trendy desk designs allow for a comfortable desk setup without sacrificing much space — mission critical during this extended WFH period for people in many industries.
Duff also gave a shout out to interior designer David Samuel Ko for being “the very best person to collaborate with,” joking, “He’s very good at spending my money.” Some of the finishing touches were provided by GARDE and Panoplie, two furnishing shops in Los Angeles. Duff’s desk chair is from Crump & Kwash, a Maryland-based furniture design studio, and it retails online for around $1,750.
Fans clearly love the sleek and stylish space, taking to the comments section of Duff’s post to ask questions and gush about the design. And while you may not be working with a Hollywood celeb-sized budget, there’s no shortage of more budget-friendly ways to incorporate a floating or folding desk into your own WFH office/”thinking space.”
