This year, holiday meals, happy hours, baking parties, and game nights all require a log-in. If you’re staring down a December calendar filled with virtual-only social events, and therefore hoping to upgrade the holiday decor within the confines of your computer camera’s view, we hear you.

The ability to customize your Zoom background is amazingly useful if you didn’t put away yesterday’s laundry in time for that meeting with your stuffy exec or you just can’t bring yourself to decorate your apartment for your virtual Christmas Eve dinner with your family. That’s why, here at Apartment Therapy, we created three original Zoom backgrounds that will bring on the seasonal spirit with minimal effort.

In case you’re new to virtual backgrounds, here’s how it works: Right click and save your vibe below, then log into Zoom via the web portal on a desktop computer. Find your account’s “Settings” (hint: it’s on the left-hand side), then navigate to the “In Meeting (Advanced)” tab, and verify that “virtual background” is enabled. From there, log into the desktop application version of Zoom, navigate to the “Preferences” menu, click on “Background & Filters,” and upload your favorite Apartment Therapy Zoom background—easy as that! Now the only hard part will be choosing from the charming backgrounds below.

Ah, Sugar

So we all kinda hate the way the cookie crumbled in 2020—but let’s definitely not turn our backs on the sugary confections themselves! This Zoom background features an adorable assortment of all the holiday faves, like candy canes, fresh firs, snowflakes, cozy sweaters, and, of course, a classic gingerbread man. It’s the perfect pick for that virtual Sunday baking marathon you and your aunts have planned.

Comfy Corner

We could all use some extra warmth right now. In this cozy view, candlelight is flickering, snow is falling outside your window, and every shelf is styled to perfection. Upload it for your next online game night and hope that the prettiness distracts your crew long enough for you to take home the W in trivia.

Let It Snow

Don’t you feel more relaxed just looking at this Zoom background? Allow the snowy, tranquil scene to carry you and your cup from a coffee-fueled Christmas morning present exchange to hot cocoa-filled virtual catch-ups with friends and family.
