Oatmeal Face Mask

An oatmeal mask is a fun and easy recipe you can make at home, according to Limor Weinberg, board-certified nurse practitioner, master trainer in Aesthetics, and founder of The Clinic USA in Miami, Florida. “It’s fabulous for a range of skin types, including those with sensitive, dry, acne-prone, and aging skin,” she says, adding that it can also be helpful for those looking for a hydrated and dewy glow.

“Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory properties, making it ideal for soothing sensitive or irritated skin. It can also act as a gentle exfoliant, removing dead skin cells and promoting a smoother complexion,” she continues.

To put it together she says you’ll need 1/3 cup of oatmeal and 1/4 cup of water. “Water helps bind the ingredients together and activates the oatmeal’s beneficial properties,” she explains. “It can help calm and nourish your skin, reducing redness and irritation while providing a gentle exfoliation.”

Mix them and layer them on your face, allowing it to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing it with warm water.

Green Tea Face Mask

Rachel Lee Lozina, a New York State licensed esthetician, laser technician, oncology esthetician, and founder of Blue Water Spa in Oyster Bay, New York, says one of her favorite DIY masks takes almost no time or effort to make.

Lozina explains that this mask is high in antioxidants and anti-aging benefits, and it can also help brighten skin. “Start with brewing the best-quality green tea, soak in compressed paper masks (easily found on Amazon), and leave it on the skin for 10 to 20 minutes as needed,” she says.

Yogurt and Turmeric Face Mask

Turmeric has been used for centuries for its anti-inflammatory benefits, which helps with melasma and with inflamed acne, according to Lozina, who adds that yogurt is also naturally full of lactic acid, which helps exfoliate the skin and soften fine lines and wrinkles. “This is also so easy to make: Just mix 2 tablespoons of yogurt with 1 tablespoon of turmeric, and apply!”

After you’ve left it on for 10 to 20 minutes, you can rinse with warm water and pat your face dry before continuing your moisturizing routine.

Coffee and Honey Face Mask

To make this exfoliating and hydrating mask you’ll need to combine dry coffee grounds and honey. “Coffee grounds contain caffeine, which has benefits such as tightening your pores and helping with puffiness and bags,” Lozina says. “Honey is extremely hydrating and helps offset any dryness you can experience with exfoliation.”

As an added perk, Lozina says honey has antifungal and anti-microbial properties which can help improve acne! “Just mix 2 tablespoons of honey with 1 tablespoon of coffee grinds.”

Oatmeal and Honey Face Mask

When used together, Lozina says the combination of oatmeal and honey can help improve hydration and calm irritated and inflamed skin. She says that this is because oatmeal is a natural soother and honey is a natural humectant. “Just mix equal parts of each and leave skin on for 20 minutes.”

Cucumber Face Mask

There’s a reason why cucumbers are synonymous with spa treatments, and it has to do with their anti-inflammatory properties. Lozina says that in addition to helping reduce swelling, cucumbers can also help to calm and soothe your skin.

“To make the mask, grate the cucumber and apply tissue on top so it doesn’t drip down your face (it’s very watery),” she says, adding that you should remove it after 10 minutes.
