This Is How Much You Get Paid To Rent Your Home to TV Shows

What would you trade for your home to have a moment of TV fame? Endless roof pizzas? Well, now that the writers at The Real Deal have pulled back the curtain on how much money people actually get paid to rent out their homes to a TV show, you can be a little smarter in your bargaining.

While homeowners do have to deal with crews traipsing in and out of their homes for anywhere from a day to a few weeks, they are handsomely rewarded for their time. Like Idris Elba levels of handsome—as in, up to $36,000 a day handsome.

One of the most famous luxe L.A. exteriors belongs to Danny Gerardi. His 7,800-square foot home has been featured in True Blood, a Victoria's Secret commercial and most notably served as the exterior for Keeping Up With the Kardashians. He says his rate is usually $10,000-$30,000 a day before agent's fees, and seeing as his home was the pretend Kardashian manse for seven seasons, that is no small cash out (and now it's on the market for nearly $8 million).

And the opportunity isn't limited to mansions and beachside homes—there are plenty of opportunities for places that can stand in for houses that you'd find in Anywhere, U.S.A.

The downside is, of course, that you are essentially handing your home over for the crew to paint, rearrange and fuss with. "As a homeowner if you want to do this, you have to be very flexible," Brian Ofria (who rented his home to crews from Silicon Valley) told The Real Deal, "understand that they're using your house and you can't get upset."

With scouts, agents and negotiations, the hustle to get a house on a TV show is a lot like an actor looking for their big break. But appearances can pay off greatly when it comes to re-selling a property and, let's be honest, doesn't the whole thing sound kind of fun?

So, would you rent your home out to a TV show? Weigh in in the comments!
