How Can I Watch the Times Square Ball Drop in Person?

If you’re in New York City, you can watch the ball drop in person in Times Square. Entrance to the viewing areas is on a first-come, first-serve basis, so consider arriving in the afternoon or early evening to get the best possible view.

Outside of the official viewing areas, you can glimpse the ball drop along Broadway, from 43rd Street to 50th Street, as well as along Seventh Avenue.

Meanwhile, you can also check out the ball drop from a number of hotels and restaurants, including Olive Garden, Marriott Marquis, the Knickerbocker, Renaissance New York, and R Lounge.

Where Can I Watch the Times Square Ball Drop on TV?

A number of TV networks will broadcast New Year’s Eve specials live from Times Square. Ryan Seacrest will host “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” which kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper will host CNN’s live New Year’s Eve broadcast, which airs on CNN at 8 p.m. ET. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus and her godmother Dolly Parton will co-host “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party,” which airs on NBC starting at 10.30 p.m. ET. You can also watch it on Peacock.
