This $12 IKEA Hanging Planter Is “Perfect” (and You’ll Want 3!)

With the end of winter nowhere in sight yet (sorry), one easy way to perk up your surroundings and bring a little brightness into view is by filling your space with plants. But buying and caring for plants can get expensive — quickly. Luckily, IKEA is selling an eye-catching $11.99 CHILISTRÅN hanging planter that’s both budget-friendly and beautiful, and people on TikTok are raving about it.

“My favorite IKEA find for hanging plants!” Colby, a content creator on TikTok (@thisisdrover) recently shared in a viral video about the planters. In the video, Colby uses three planters and hangs each one onto the one below it, creating a floor-to-ceiling plant moment in her space.

Since Colby first shared her TikTok on January 6, it’s received more than 190,600 likes and 4.3 million views.

“This would be awesome for a kitchen near a window to grow herbs inside during the winter!” one TikToker suggested on the video. 

Colby also explained how she hung her top planter from the ceiling in the comments section, writing, “[I used] one of those claw clips that go right into the ceiling and then opens up — makes a large hole (that’s covered by the hook).”

Although the IKEA store in Colby’s video is selling the CHILISTRÅN planter for $19.99 in-store, you can grab it for just $11.99 on the company’s website, where it’s also available in white. Better yet, the product boasts an impressive 4.9 out of five stars, based on 159 reviews.

IKEA has certainly made plant parents a priority heading into 2024. The retailer recently announced its new DAKSJUS plant collection, which offers everything from plant stands to garden accessories to self-watering pots, all for under $50. The collection is available online and in stores beginning Feb. 1.

Though they’re a bit more expensive than what you’ll find at IKEA, the ease and convenience of buying it now might be all the convincing you need.
