When it comes to decorating my home, I’m not afraid to invest in the right piece — but one thing I’m way less likely to splurge on is a lamp. Why would I when IKEA has so many affordable, stylish options? From one that doubles as a speaker to a unique, arch-shaped style editors love, the iconic Swedish home store sells some of the coolest modern lamps — many of which can be yours for $20 or less. So before you spend your hard-earned money on a bougie fixture, or, worse, succumb to the dreaded “big light,” consider these affordable alternatives that editors can’t get enough of.

NÖDMAST LED Portable Lamp
$20

The NOEDMAST lamp might be my favorite on this list because unlike most mushroom lamps that have a fixed shade, this one can be tilted to direct light where you need it most. It's a great choice for a workspace or nightstand. And the colors are too cute!

KUDDLAVA Table Lamp
$18

Editors aren’t kidding when they say the KUDDLAVA lamp looks like paper origami. With its gorgeous pleated shade and base it has a delicate sculptural look, but it’s actually made of plastic. What’s more, it casts a dreamy, diffused light — perfect for cozying up a bedroom or living space.

BLÅSVERK Table Lamp
$20

As a proud owner of a BLASVERK lamp, I can vouch for its retro appeal. In the red or yellow colorway it makes a Memphis Design-inspired statement, but also looks modern and subdued in neutral beige. It’s lightweight but sturdy, and unbeatable for the price.

SPETSBOJ Table Lamp
$19

The SPETSBOJ lamp first took social media by storm with its trendy butter-yellow color, but its compact, functional design makes it a forever favorite. It’s small enough to fit on a crowded nightstand, and can be dimmed with a simple turn of the lampshade. Brilliant.

GULLSUDARE / HAVSDJUP Pendant Lamp
$17

There’s a reason why this paper lantern has been showing up in apartment tours for years. Its relaxed, Scandi-inspired look cozies up any room! The pendant does require hardwired installation, but considering the amount you’re saving on the lamp itself it’s a small price to pay.

FLOTTILJ Desk Lamp
$10

Desk lamps aren’t always the cutest, but the FLOTTILJ lamp sports a sleek, steel body that brings an architectural edge to your workspace. What’s more, the lamp’s head can be turned up or down to cast light on your work or spotlight your walls.

STRANDAD Floor Lamp
$20

It may seem basic, but this floor lamp’s cylindrical rice paper shade creates the softest ambient light. The lack of ornamentation puts the shade’s natural texture on display and complements any decor aesthetic. The narrow shape is perfect for small apartments, too.

TOKABO Table Lamp
$18

Interior designers love this adorable mushroom lamp, and so do I! Its tiny glass body looks great on small shelves and tabletops, and it diffuses a soft, mood-setting light. Just make sure you have the right bulb!
