IKEA’s New Sofa Is Giving Major Designer Style on a Budget (It’s So Chic!)
If you’re a regular reader of Apartment Therapy, then you know that IKEA is already having a banner year in terms of new product releases. The iconic, affordable Swedish homewares giant seems to be endlessly in search of ways to make stylish, quality pieces available to the public. And their newest release? It might just be their best yet!
The LILLESÄTER sofa looks like it waltzed straight out of a designer catalogue. The on-trend pill-shaped silhouette feels distinctly modern and sophisticated, but subtly playful as well. The textured off-white bouclé fabric creates a vibe as cozy and inviting as it is chic.
What Is the IKEA LILLESÄTER Sofa?
The LILLESÄTER collection, which just hit shelves this month, features four sizes of sectional sofas, as well as a swivel accent chair and a pouffe. The smallest size, a two-cushion sofa that stretches just 79”, is a certified small-space gem. It would make a super-stylish statement piece in any living room, but it’s also versatile enough to mesh effortlessly with many different spaces and design styles.
All six pieces in the collection share the same rounded, modern design, and the sofas are available in both white bouclé and yellow woven fabrics. The pouffe and the swivel chair are available in the white bouclé or an on-trend royal blue hue — perfect for mixing and matching. The pouffe would make such a fabulous coffee table ottoman, too (although I do wish it had storage space).
Plus, I love that the performance fabric means I don’t have to worry so much about spillage and stains. I love to host, so I’ve traditionally shied away from white and sculptural sofas. But the new LILLESÄTER collection is a shining example of the magic that comes from a perfect marriage between form and function; proof that sometimes, you really can have it all!
At $899, this stylish 79” sofa packs a serious punch for the price. For larger spaces and/or a larger splurge, you might look into the 4-seat, 5-seat, or 6-seat sectionals instead. The biggest size rings in at $1,799; still a great price for a piece that large (and that chic!).
