LONDON- MAY 8, 2025: Ikea store on Oxford Street. Landmark new store for the Swedish multinational retailer

As someone who lives in a small New York apartment, I’m no stranger to a small closet. Even before I moved to the city, finding ways to squeeze all my clothes, shoes, and accessories into cramped spaces was like a cursed game of Tetris. But if there’s one thing I learned after years of trying to “hack” the space, it’s that doing so always comes down to having the right organizers — and IKEA has plenty.

That’s right, the Swedish retailer has so much more than affordable, stylish furniture and decor. There are budget-friendly bathroom storage, kitchen gems that’ll cut down on clutter, and closet organizers that’ll tidy up even the tiniest of apartment closets, too. So before you splurge on an over-priced storage system, check out these closet organizing gems that are under $20.

DRÖNJÖNS Storage box
$20

The DRÖNJÖNS storage box is made of a durable metal mesh, so it’ll hold up against everyday use, and give you clear visibility to the contents inside. The spacious 13x13-inch dimensions will fit on most closet shelves and can hold anything from stacks of sweaters, jeans, or seasonal items you reach for less often.

GREJIG Shoe rack
$5

This collapsible shoe rack doubles as a sleek shelf riser, effectively doubling your storage space. It’s super affordable at only $5 a piece, and can be stacked for multi-tiered storage. IKEA shoppers say the GREJIG rack is sturdy, too, so you don’t need to worry about your items clattering down unexpectedly.

RASSLA Organizer with 5 compartments
$13

The RASSLA hanging organizer hangs from your closet’s clothing rod and offers five compartments for bulky knitwear, jeans, hats, you name it. And there are two fasteners on either side that allow you to compress the organizer to three compartments instead of five, thus freeing up space down below.

OMTRENT Hanger connector,
$2

These brilliant little gems essentially allow you to hang an entire outfit on a single hanger by providing an extra hook to hang other pieces. Group similar items together and minimize crowding on your clothes rail, or “bundle” pieces for quick and easy outfitting.

PÅLYCKE Clip-on Hook Rack
$3

While this clip-on hook is technically intended for use in the kitchen, it’s a smart way to store accessories without taking up too much space. Simply clip the hook onto the edge of a shelf and voila, you’ve got three extra hooks for scarves, hats, and more.

KUGGIS Box with lid
$15

KUGGIS storage boxes are useful pretty much anywhere in the home, but especially in a tiny closet. For one thing, they’re stackable and include durable lids to keep dust and critters out of your stuff. They also feature handy little cut-outs that make them easier to grab from a tall shelf, along with a smooth exterior that’s perfect for labeling, too.

GÅRDSMÄSTARE Pants/skirt hanger
$10

The right hangers will take you far, and the GÅRDSMÄSTARE hanger is proof. The slim, powder-coated steel design has three bars so it can hold multiple pairs of pants or skirts on a single hanger. A game-changer for anyone with limited closet space.
