Say what you want about the butter yellow trend, but I still can’t get enough. That’s why I couldn’t help but pick up the SOJABÖNA Plant Pot during a recent stroll through my neighborhood IKEA — its glossy light-yellow glaze was totally irresistible. I even picked up a houseplant to take home during my visit, too (IKEA truly is a one-stop shop).

The plant pot is probably my favorite thing in my living room, and while the yellow shade I have is currently sold out, there are still two other equally adorable pastel colors available. However, they’re all Last Chance (which means once these sell out, they’re gone for good!). I’d recommend buying one ASAP while you still can. Here’s why.

What Is the SOJABÖNA Plant Pot?

It’s a durable, earthenware plant pot that’s powder-coated inside and out in gorgeous pastel hues. They come in various sizes: The butter yellow color measures six inches tall and 6 inches in diameter, so it’s a great size for small to medium-sized house plants. While the light green is 4 inches tall with a 4-inch diameter, and the light pink is 5 inches tall with a 5.5-inch diameter.

For all the plant people reading, the SOJABÖNA pot doesn’t have a drainage hole, so it functions as a decorative cover for another planter. You could pop an artificial plant inside, too, if real plants aren’t your thing. While the butter-yellow colorway is currently out of stock, the light pink andlight green pots are still up for grabs.

Why I’m Into It

Needless to say, the pot’s pastel yellow coating is a huge part of its appeal. And clearly, IKEA shoppers agree. “I love this pot and have 4 of them!” wrote one shopper in her review. “The color is a beautiful sunshine yellow with a satin finish (so not too glossy but not matte either).” Another shopper wrote, “I love the yellow! So bright and cheerful.”

The SOJABÖNA pot’s happy pastel hue instantly brightened up my window-less living room, and coordinates perfectly with my lighter oak furniture. Not to mention that the semi-glossy finish makes for a stylish textural contrast against all of the wood in the room.  If you’re in the market for colorful new decor, or just want an easy way to dip your toe in a cute, pastel palette, the SOJABÖNA pot is it.
