One thing that never fails to impress me when I visit my parents in the suburbs is their pantry. They have a massive cabinet with floor-to-ceiling shelves (pull-outs and all!) — it’s an absolute dream. All I can think when I look at it is that my tiny New York kitchen could never. I have one measly cabinet that barely contains all my snacks and non-perishables, and whatever doesn’t fit usually just sits on my kitchen island or on top of my fridge. It’s a far-from-perfect system. The solution? A visit to my neighborhood IKEA

The Swedish retailer has a massive selection of storage finds that make building a DIY pantry surprisingly easy — and affordable, too! I did the research to prove it.

9 IKEA Storage Finds to DIY a Pantry for Under $200

I spent hours searching through them all to find the ones with peak pantry potential for under $200. Here are my top picks.

HAUGA High Cabinet with 2 Doors
$199

The HAUGA cabinet is probably the closest I’ll get to my parents’ suburban pantry. It’s huge — over 6 1/2 feet tall — with five open shelves and a spacious cabinet for extra concealed storage. IKEA shoppers say it’s super-sturdy, too!

HYLLIS Shelf Unit
$30

At only $30, this shelf is an instant yes for me. The galvanized steel construction is sturdy and durable — perfect for life in the kitchen. And each shelf gives you about 16 inches of vertical space, so you can store taller items like cereal boxes, pasta, and more.

FÖRHÖJA Kitchen Cart
$180

Think of this compact kitchen cart as a little pantry on wheels. It gives you two roomy shelves to work with, two drawers, and a solid birch top that’s perfect for meal prep.

BILLY / OXBERG Bookcase with Doors
$104

The BILLY is more than just a bookshelf. This narrow version makes a great pantry stand-in, and it doesn’t require a ton of floor space. But my favorite part has to be the cabinet door that keeps pantry items out of sight for a cleaner look.

MUSKAN Shelf Unit
$80

While it’s technically intended for bathrooms, the MUSKAN shelf will earn its place in your kitchen. Its narrow square shape tucks seamlessly into small nooks, and the four open shelves give you solid storage space for pantry items. Just imagine how good it would look lined with bins and jars.

ENHET Wall Shelf
$69

If floor space is scarce, take advantage of the vertical space on your walls with the EHNET shelf. You could go so far as to mount multiples side by side — essentially creating the storage space your kitchen is missing. The sleek, powder-coated steel frame will help modernize your space, too.

IVAR Shelving Unit
$150$121

Made of unfinished, solid pine, the IVAR shelving unit brings a farmers market vibe to your kitchen. And the storage space is bountiful: one open shelf, two storage boxes, and one large storage box on wheels so ingredients are always easy to grab.

IKEA Nissafors Utility Cart
$30

A rolling utility cart can be anything you want it to be — even a mobile pantry. It might not have enough space to hold all of your pantry goods, but it’s a smart way to deal with the run-off items you don’t know where to store (and can always be used alongside any of the other alternatives on this list!). I’d use it to stash mealtime staples I reach for every day, like breakfast cereals, grains, and sauces.

OMAR Shelf Unit
$20

The beauty of the OMAR shelf is that it can sit directly on your countertop to maximize existing pantry storage, or it can be stacked to create a standalone solution (hooray for versatility!). It’s strong enough to hold heavier pantry items like canned goods, jars, and sauces — and according to IKEA shoppers, assembly is a breeze.
