Renowned party host, chef, TV personality, and author Ina Garten famously uses the phrase, “How easy is that?” It’s both a saying and philosophy she seems to live by (one of her cookbooks is even titled after this mantra!). As spring approaches, Ina is crafting gorgeous bouquets without fussing over intricate arrangements. She keeps it sweet and simple, and the result is a stunning no-brainer centerpiece that you can copy.

“Just a little bit of spring in my kitchen on a dark and rainy day,” Ina captioned a recent Instagram post. Her photo shows three separate vases, each with its own display of flowers. There’s one with orange tulips, another with Burnet flowers, and a third with a branch of white quince.

“Simply beautiful!” one person commented on Ina’s post. Another said, “Effortlessly gorgeous!”

How Ina Garten Effortlessly Arranges Spring Floral Arrangements

As is evident from the photo Ina shared above and the arrangements she’s publicized in the past, she follows two main rules that you can copy. The first is that you keep different kinds of blooms in their own separate vessels.

For example, tulips go in one vase, grape hyacinths in another, and so on. This lets each variety really shine, and it simplifies the color palette of each bouquet. Think of it as minimalism for floral arrangements! And if you do decide to combine colors in the same vase, keep the blooms in the same family.

The next crucial rule is to keep your vases clear or white so they don’t distract from the florals themselves. Ina often puts her white quince branches in a simple white vase, but she usually opts for clear hurricane vases or pitchers to display fresh cuttings. This is not dissimilar to Ina’s approach to plating up her delicious creations in the kitchen — she serves meals on white plates to really let the food shine. And the same goes for flowers!

You can pick up a variety pack of clear cylinder vases on Amazon if you don’t yet have any in your collection. They’re also almost always available at the thrift store for cheap.

Creating floral centerpieces inspired by Ina requires almost no thought. Just pick your favorite stems, display them in a clear or white vase, and … how easy is that?
