Pretty shower with black tile, white shower curtain pulled aside

I’ve never put much time or thought into my shower routine. As much as I love lounging in a bathtub, when it comes to showers, my goal is to get in and out. It’s been even worse lately, though, because I moved into an apartment with the most abysmal shower in existence. It is severely small. Whatever you’re picturing, it’s most certainly worse. It’s shoved into the corner of the bathroom, lacks a tub, and measures a little less than 2-by-2 feet. It has an odd curved shape, too, so I hit my elbows on the glass walls constantly.

Since I rent, there isn’t much I can do to improve the situation — or so I thought. I saw all the hype around filtered showerheads on TikTok for a while, but until now, I didn’t think that they were worth the hefty price tag. Since I added the Jolie showerhead to my setup, though, I’ve realized that I was sorely mistaken. Not only has it improved the appearance of my hair and skin, its phenomenal water pressure actually makes me want to spend more time in my poorly designed shower. Read on for all of the details.

Quick Overview

A Quick Look At the Jolie Filtered Showerhead

  • Easy to install and remove
  • Stylish design that comes in multiple colors and finishes
  • Rain-like water pressure
  • Filtering technology that removes chlorine, heavy metals, and other contaminants
  • Results in clearer skin and shinier, smoother hair that sheds less

Design Features That Stand Out

The main draw of this showerhead is its filtering system, which uses KDF-55 and Calcium Sulfite and is supported by third-party testing and benchmarks from the National Science Foundation. However, it doesn’t hurt that it looks way sleeker than most others on the market. It comes in silver, gold, matte black, and red, attaches to any kind of shower, and offers a minimalist design that will instantly make your shower look more luxe. It’s hoseless, which means that it doesn’t detach, but the wide showerhead has dozens of tiny holes that distribute a strong, rain-like water pressure. The filter, which looks similar to a Brita filter and needs to be replaced every three months, sits inside the neck of the showerhead.

How It Performed

Straight out of the box, I was instantly impressed with its simple shape; it’s way less of an eyesore than my cheap version from Amazon. A wrench is included to help with installation — which is great for those of us who don’t own a toolbox — but it didn’t even see much action. I needed it to remove my previous showerhead, but I actually ended up being able to screw the Jolie model on by hand. It was so shockingly easy that I thought I did it wrong, but when I turned the water on, everything was in working order.

At first, I was worried about how strong the pressure would be since I’m used to being able to adjust it. Right away, I was happy to find that there wasn’t much of a difference between Jolie’s single setting and the one I preferred on my old showerhead. In fact, the stream has a rain-like feel that feels way more pleasant on my skin. I haven’t found any issues with getting all of the shampoo out of my hair or rinsing my body wash off of my skin; it takes the same amount of time.

It’s been about three months since I switched to Jolie, and I’m sure you want to hear about the results more than anything else — the brand’s claims really do hold up. I didn’t change anything about my shower routine, and even though it took a few weeks, I’ve noticed a difference in my hair most of all. It tends to get oily quickly and frizzy unless I blow dry it and add product. Instead of lathering up shampoo every couple of days, I can go more days between washes now. My hair also appears shinier and more wavy than usual. There’s even less hair clogging the drain now because shedding has been reduced drastically. As for my skin, the results came a bit slower, but they’re there nonetheless. For years, my shoulders and back have broken out, and while I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s cleared up entirely, blemishes don’t pop up quite as often.

What We Loved

  • It really does live up to its claims: Though my skin hasn’t suddenly cleared up — not that I was expecting it to — the breakouts have been less severe. My skin feels softer, as does my hair, which is smoother and requires less maintenance.
  • The pressure and feel: It feels like I’m in a luxury spa when I step under the spray. The filter doesn’t decrease the pressure in any way, and I don’t have to spend any longer than usual rinsing off.

Good to Know

If you’re a fan of showerheads that detach and can be used by hand, this might not be the device for you. However, in my opinion, the water pressure makes up for it. One of the only other cons is that you have to purchase a $36 replacement filter every few months — but I’ve come to think of it as an addition to my skincare routine, equating it to buying a new face wash or moisturizer. You can opt for a subscription that costs $33 each time, instead, so you don’t even have to think about it — it’ll come straight to your door when it’s time to swap it out.

Should You Buy the Jolie Filtered Showerhead?

I think the Jolie showerhead is a worthwhile investment for anyone, even if you don’t necessarily deal with acne and frizzy hair like me, but I would specifically recommend it if you:

  • Deal with breakouts on your body, especially your shoulders and back
  • Have curly hair or hair that’s prone to frizzing
  • Want your bathroom to feel like a spa
