I Just Discovered a Home Brand That Serves Article and Urban Outfitters Style on an IKEA Budget
Sometimes it feels like I can’t keep up with all the home decor brands on the market today, even though it’s my job. Between heritage brand collaborations, new direct to customer companies popping up, and smaller, maker-led businesses thriving (which Apartment Therapy loves to see), flagging the latest and greatest can be challenging. Today, though, I wanted to share with you a new-to-me gem that maybe you haven’t come across yet either in your shopping: JONATHAN Y.
I stumbled upon JONATHAN Y while browsing on the Nordstrom app, and I spotted the Oda Cactus LED Table Lamp. It reminded me of designer Eny Lee Parker’s lamps, which while beautiful (and on some level preferable as original designs) just aren’t in my budget.
Spotting this stylish accent prompted me to go down a JONATHAN Y rabbit hole, and let me just say I’m glad I did. The brand seems to be headquartered right in AT’s own “backyard,” SoHo, New York City, and it appears to have started as a lighting company. You’ll find a variety of lighting available from the brand, from bistro string lights to restaurant-style LED lamps to ceramic and mixed material designs that look much more expensive than they are. Most lamps come in under $200 despite being quite large and detailed.
I then moved onto rugs and textiles, which definitely are another standout category for the company. Not only does JONATHAN Y stock washable pieces, it’s also super competitive price-wise, and you can find just about any style of rug, including irregular shaped designs. Think colors, patterns, and sizes galore.
The brand has also expanded into furniture, and a lot of both outdoor-friendly and indoor styles are available (predominantly smaller tables). Remember those trendy tile-covered pedestals? JONATHAN Y has a version. The company’s drink table offering is impressive, too.
If you’re wondering about style and cost specifics, I’d liken some of the brand’s inventory to a cross between what you’d find at Urban Outfitters and Article but with IKEA comparable pricing on many things (the higher-end of IKEA pricing, though). A lot of the items feel a little more modern or trendy in terms of aesthetic, but you can find some traditional classics in there, too, especially with the rugs and lighting.
JONATHAN Y has its own website, which has the largest selection of merch, but you can find the items at Nordstrom, The Home Depot, Amazon, Walmart, and Target as well. I rounded up a few of my favorite pieces to make shopping the line even easier, but take a look at any of these sites for even more offerings.
