These Are the Most Popular Smart Home Devices, According to One Survey
Smart tech has become increasingly popular in the home, making those tedious little tasks a whole lot easier. Smart plugs allow you to turn on and off the lights without lifting a finger, while smart doorbells have a whole host of benefits. Plus, if “Modern Family” is anything to go by, smart closets may be in our future.
As it has become more affordable and accessible than ever, Mortgage Candence surveyed over 900 Americans across the country to find the most popular smart device.
The results found that a whopping 94 percent of Americans have at least one smart device in their home right now, and one in five have over seven different smart devices.
Smart televisions are the most popular, with 69% of respondents owning a TV that goes beyond just showing the basic channels. Smart TVs offer a range of online content, allowing you easily access on-demand content at the touch of a button. Through connecting your smart phone, you can enjoy curated content from streaming networks such as Netflix and Hulu.
In second place is smart speakers, with 45 percent of survey respondents owning one or more. Lights came in third (32 percent), while 29 percent of people said that they own a smart doorbell. Rounding out the top five: smart thermostats (25 percent).
The survey also revealed that more than one-quarter of Americans (27%) use a voice assistant to control their smart tech at home. When it comes to the favored voice assistant, the majority of Americans (55%) use Amazon’s Alexa. The next most popular assistant is Apple’s Siri, followed by Google Nest and Microsoft’s Cortana.
60 percent of respondents said that smart tech has had a positive impact on their life, and two in five people would not go back to living without a smart device.
