Need a Little Motivation to Clean? These 5 Podcasts Will Instantly Inspire You to Start Tidying Up
There are very few things in life that relax me more than watching other people clean. Unfortunately, watching videos of other people doesn’t actually clean my own home — and since it’s a visual medium, it can be difficult to take your eyes off and stop procrastinating. The solution? Cleaning podcasts.
Cleaning podcasts can help you relax, get into the right headspace, and be motivated to start cleaning.
Here are five podcasts you can start listening to right now to gain deeper insights into the magic of cleaning while you (hopefully) deep clean your own home.
Ask a House Cleaner
“Ask a House Cleaner” is a short (almost) daily podcast in which listeners ask Angela Brown, a professional house cleaner of 25 years, questions about cleaning and decluttering. Most episodes are less than 10 minutes long, just enough time to give you the motivation you need to remove thick grease from cabinets or to clean vertical blinds. I also appreciate that this podcast isn’t afraid to answer questions about the struggle to clean when you are dealing with personal or mental health issues.
Clean With Me
Host Jessica Gutierrez spends each episode of her “Clean with Me” podcast guiding listeners through ways to tidy up different areas of their home. This podcast feels very much like a friend is sitting with you and talking you through cleaning tasks. Since I have a small home and cleaning my space doesn’t take long, I often listen to the episodes at 1.5x speed to see how quickly I can finish the task.
A Slob Comes Clean
In “A Slob Comes Clean,” host and author Dana K. White (also known as Nony), discusses cleaning and organizing tips from a realistic point of view. She often interviews guest speakers and answers listener questions about home routines, decluttering, and strategies for keeping your home a clean and happy place. What’s refreshing about this podcast is that the host admits that she doesn’t like cleaning and understands that listeners need pragmatic solutions for their very busy lives.
Clutterbug Podcast
The “Clutterbug Podcast,” hosted by Cas Aarssen of HGTV’s “Hot Mess House,” is a short (30 minutes or less) bi-monthly podcast about decluttering, organizing, and maintaining your home. Aarssen is an organizational expert and often gives listeners “tough love” advice to overcome cleaning and categorizing roadblocks.
Stand Out
Although this podcast is aimed at productivity and organizing professionals, even the most novice organizers can benefit from the organizational tips, tricks, and trends explored within the show. The National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals’ (or NAPO for short) Stand Out podcast is hosted by Clare Kumar, who spends the time interviewing professionals in the field to give listeners a peek behind the scenes of the organizing community. Some stand-out episodes include “The TV Show Influence on the Organizing Industry” and “Good Enough is Perfect.”
