This Colorful Gem Organizes My Paper Clutter — It’s Now the Best Thing on My Wall
Call me sentimental, but I never met a piece of ephemera I didn’t want to keep. Movie tickets, museum brochures, postcards, handwritten notes from friends and family, even dinner receipts from a great night out; they’re all snippets of memories too meaningful to toss. For a while, they just littered my desk, until I found the perfect new home for them — my very own Storyboard by Mustard Made (the brand behind the colorful storage lockers that editors love). It keeps my keepsakes from becoming a mess and turns them into the main attraction of my walls.
What Is the Mustard Made Storyboard?
The Storyboard is a 33.5×20.9-inch powder-coated steel board that boasts a smooth magnetic surface designed to display everything from lists, invites, and reminders to photos, postcards, and creative inspo — ostensibly turning paper clutter into the focal point of your home office, living space, or any room in your home, honestly. It’s available in the brand’s signature lineup of 12 rainbow-bright colors (I got mine in Sage). It can be hung vertically or horizontally. Just make sure you have the right hanging hardware because that’s not included.
Mustard Made also sells magnets: The Buttons and Wordbits, which you can buy separately.
Why I Love My Storyboard
Having a Storyboard is like having my own personal art gallery. I get so much joy out of styling it with my collection of postcards, mini prints, and photo booth strips, and switching up the layout whenever the feeling strikes. Set against the board’s soft sage surface, otherwise “ordinary” items turn into an intentional, decorative display. It’s so much more personal than my other store-bought prints (though I have plenty of those, too), because it showcases the pieces that mean the most to me — like the card handwritten by my 4-year-old niece and the magnet I made to honor my late doggo, Phoebe.
Most importantly, the Storyboard has been an organizational all-star. It keeps paper “clutter” off my desk and other household surfaces; instead of sitting in a clumsy stack, my postcard collection, for example, is neatly arranged on the board where it can be seen and appreciated. It’s also surprisingly spacious, which gives me a lot of surface area to fill.
The Storyboard also functions as a convenient second space (other than the front of my fridge) to post reminders and invitations that I can’t forget. It’s mounted in the living room right off my apartment’s entryway, so it’s one of the last things I see before I head out the door. It’s become my go-to spot for important reminders that keep my day going smoothly. Another cute bonus: My husband and I have started to leave notes for each other on it when one of us leaves the apartment.
While it’s not exactly a budget find, priced at $129, I think the Storyboard is a worthy investment piece for anyone who needs to corral their paper clutter in style — especially if you’re a collector like I am, have kids whose drawings you want to display, or just want to keep loose items in check. It adds instant personality to my walls!
