Celebrate Your Pet in Scandinavian Minimalist Style with One of These Portraits
We’re always on the lookout for more ways to express our love for our pets. Along with keeping them entertained with fun toys and comfortable with innovative beds, sometimes we also just want to shout our love for our pets from the rooftops by wearing their image on a sweater or commissioning a custom pet portrait. And there’s really a pet portrait style for everyone, whatever your taste. Like the colorful look with lots of polka dots and stripes? We’ve got you. If sophisticated minimalism is more your style, you will love My Pet Poster.
According to Design Milk, Swedish couple Josefine Wikström Nilsson and William von Heidenstam started the print company in 2019. The designs are all hand-drawn by Nilsson in the style of simple line drawings. Right now, you can choose from 14 cat breeds and more than 90 dog breeds. There’s also a bunny option.
Here’s how it works, according to My Pet Poster: “Choose a generic illustration of the pet you would like us to create a poster of, e.g. Labrador retriever. Fill in the pets name, date of birth, breed (if mixed), and most important its personality in one or two sentences. From the moment you place your order, we’ll customize the poster, print it in Stockholm, Sweden and ship it to you.”
The posters come in two sizes: 50 x 70 centimeters (about 19.7 x 17.5 inches) and 30 x 40 centimeters (about 11 x 17 inches). All posters ship from Sweden.
If you can’t find a drawing that looks like your pet, don’t despair. My Pet Poster says it adds new breeds each week. You can even contact them with a request, and they say they’ll try to add it as soon as possible.
My Pet Poster is, incidentally, also a great resource for pet names. We wish we had a miniature dachshund named Chorizo or a corgi named Louisa.
