When I was younger and first learned how to clean, mopping was always the chore I dreaded the most. I was extremely conscious of getting my hands dirty, so I hated wringing the mop with my hands. Thankfully, mops have evolved since then with self-wringing capabilities, equipped to do the hard work for me. Years after moving out of my parents’ house into my new apartment, I quickly realized that there are two areas that would need regular mopping: the wood laminate floors in the kitchen and tile in the bathroom. Plus, both floors have seen an increase in foot traffic in the months-long process of getting settled and constantly moving things around.

After experimenting with a series of self-wringing mops that didn’t quite cut it (there were soggy mops galore). A quick search on Amazon led me to the O-Cedar EasyWring Microfiber Spin Mop and Bucket… aka the mop of my dreams.

What is the O-Cedar EasyWring Microfiber Spin Mop and Bucket?

The O-Cedar EasyWring Microfiber Spin Mop and Bucket is a hands-free system that makes cleaning your floors more efficient. Right out of the box, the spin mop takes only a few minutes to put together: The adjustable handle screws into the base, which then snaps onto the microfiber mop head. From there, it’s ready to use. With a maximum length of 48 inches, the mop handle extends near the bottom where the it screws into the base and again at its upper half. That means you can partially or fully extend it as needed without compromising the quality of your cleaning.

With the O-Cedar spin mop, you can banish the need for harsh chemicals while cleaning. The machine-washable mop head is made up of millions of microfiber strands that assist with collecting dirt on all types of hard flooring with only water. (It’s recommended that you replace the mop head every three months for optimal cleaning.) The triangular shape of it also allows you to reach tight corners with ease. The biggest convenience of the EasyWring Spin Mop, however, is that it’s wrung out with help from the built-in pedal on the bucket. That’s right, there’s no getting your hands dirty with this one!

Why I Love the O-Cedar EasyWring Spin Mop and Bucket

My favorite feature of this O-Cedar spin mop is the wringer that’s built into the bucket. Once the mop is submerged into the soapy water, you simply put it into the wringer, push the pedal to make it twirl like a salad spinner, and shake the water out. Compared to all the years I spent hand-wringing mops, I much preferred the pedal wringing of the spin mop’s bucket. Not only was it fun to watch the mop spin around while releasing excess water, but it also saturated the mop just enough for an effective swipe across the floor before needing to rinse it again. The fact that I wasn’t using a soaking wet mop also lessened the drying time of the floor significantly — I’m talking no more than 30 minutes. I can also throw the reusable mop head in the wash in between chores.

I also loved that the mop’s double extension feature allowed me to use the mop at varying distances, which was extremely helpful when I needed to reach a wider range of space in my kitchen, versus the smaller width of my bathroom. The ability to shorten the mop at will kept me from getting in my own way while cleaning. My floors have never looked better, and mopping is a more tolerable task for me now. When you’re done, all that’s left to do is to put it away and admire the shine of a job well done.
