I Ditched My Duvet for This Buttery Soft Comforter That’s Like Sleeping on a Cloud

Once upon a time, I was a night owl every night of the week: Someone who’d stay up late, milling, lounging, and roaming about my home, my friends’ homes, or the cities we found ourselves in. Now? Now, I can’t wait to get in bed Sunday through Thursday. There’s something so fulfilling about a solid bedtime routine and a good night’s rest, especially when the supremely cozy Parachute Cotton Drift Comforter is part of the equation.

The Parachute Cotton Drift Comforter is the brand’s take on the all-in-one comforter trend currently taking over the spring bedding sphere. Unfamiliar? All-in-one comforters are the traditional silhouette many millennials, Gen Xers, and Baby Boomers grew up with — filled, quilted bed coverings that don’t require the labor of changing a duvet. When duvets and inserts came out, they became renowned for their higher-end fluff and feel. Now, brands are reinventing the comforter to introduce the same cloudlike feel without the chaos of flipping, tying, and buttoning bed linens. 

Parachute’s butter-soft, ultra-lightweight Cotton Drift Comforter features a washed cotton twill shell stuffed with recycled fill, which is then quilted in a unique leaflike pattern to prevent bunching. It’s breathable and breezy, and has an almost brushed microfiber feel that’s impossible not to doze off under. 

I cannot reiterate enough just how soft and fluffy the Parachute Cotton Drift Comforter is. It reminds me of my favorite down blanket growing up, one that I’ve kept tucked in my closet for years as a memento of my late Jack Russell fur brother, Jeter — one that I didn’t want to risk becoming threadbare. In that way, this buttery comforter offers a hint of nostalgia, personally, but I’m a firm believer that plenty of other people in the world will be wowed by just how comfy it is, too. 

My only complaint about it is that it’s only sold in four subdued colors, which tracks with Parachute, a brand that specializes in high-end neutral bedding. Still, I’d love to see it in a sunnier yellow hue, a petal pink, or a matcha green. Nevertheless, I’ll be dreaming under my creamy oat pick (Bone) for months to come — and add some statement blankets and pillows to the mix.
