The Brand Behind the Insta-Famous Shoe Rack Just Dropped the Chicest Bookends I’ve Ever Seen
I’ll admit it: My social media algorithms know me pretty well. As I scroll, I’m inundated with cool new coffee suppliers, exciting product launches, and of course, internet-famous brands. One of those eye-catching brands that I just can’t seem to shake from my feed is Open Spaces, and I’m not mad about it. With a super-cool aesthetic, sleek curved lines, minimalist design, and trendy colors, it’s no surprise that this brand has experienced a recent rise to fame.
Perhaps best known for the Entryway Rack (which I own and love), Open Spaces makes an array of fun storage solutions. Now, the tasteful creators have teamed up with design brand Tortuga for a unique collection of funky and functional pieces — including the high-style Open Spaces x Tortuga Bookends. I’ve been using them for a few weeks now, and I absolutely love them. Here’s why.
I pride myself on my eclectic collection of reading materials; between my boyfriend (a fly-fishing and storm-chasing enthusiast), and me (a former chef who still reads recipes like it’s my job), our bookshelves are filled with literary treasures of all shapes and sizes. Because I couldn’t spare shelf space for stylish yet bulky bookends and didn’t want to muck up my decor with something that screamed utilitarian, I had been stacking novels 10 high to keep everything in place. Unfortunately, this approach is not only ineffective, it makes the whole space feel messy.
That’s why I absolutely love the arching, two-pronged bookends that are part of this collab. They’re constructed from solid steel that makes them strong enough to support a whole stack of books yet thin enough that they don’t take up added space on the shelf, and they look uber-chic while doing so. Available in four cult-favorite Open Spaces colors — subtle Light Blue and Cream, vibrant Orange, and chic Dark Green — there’s a hue that will work for nearly any space. In my living room, the Orange set provides a really fun contrast to the array of spines on my shelf. Because the bookends can be configured for two varying heights (that mirror each other in shape), they’re especially handy for a collection of books that varies in size, shape, and weight.
Decorating my apartment with home goods that combine function and flair is important to me, and these streamlined supports are the most stylish addition I have made to my space thus far. I have to say, my algorithm really hit the nail on the head with this one.
