This $28 Shoe Organizer Also Works in the Kitchen (and It Takes Up No Space!)

I live in a tiny studio that just barely fits a couch and a full-size bed, so I can’t afford to let any area go to waste — including the back of my doors. My apartment would descend into messy chaos without my door organizers. The front of my closet door has some cascading hooks that hold at least 10 purses, while the other side has one of those shoe pocket organizers. The only other door in my apartment — aside from the entrance — is the one leading to my bathroom, and it has hooks on both sides.

Even when I lived in a much bigger apartment, I made use of doors anywhere and everywhere. It’s a storage solution that takes up zero space, so why not take advantage of them all? Still, I know I could make even better use of my doors — especially in the case of said shoe pocket organizer. I’ve been wanting to buy an upgrade for a while now, and I think I found it in QVC’s Pop-It Shelf Rack. Better yet, it can work on any door — including the pantry’s — and store so much more beyond shoes.

I’m always a fan of products that can serve more than one purpose. That way, when I move into a new space or my needs change, I don’t have to get rid of them. This over-the-door shelving system definitely fits the bill! It creates tons of storage with its seven tiers, which are about 10.5 inches deep. The levels are at an angle, so whatever you place on them — shoes, toys, books, toiletries, snacks, cleaning supplies, the list goes on — won’t fall off.

It’s also sturdy, thanks to the frame being made of powder-coated steel and the shelves being lined with mesh. Once you unfold the unit (it collapses like an accordion), all you have to do is get the two hooks over the top of your door and latch it into place. Then, for extra stability, it comes with two extra straps to attach to the bottom of the door. That’s especially handy if this organizer is going on a door that you open and close a lot.

This find is such a step up from my shoe pocket organizer. For one, it can actually hold taller boots and keep them secure, but I could also end up using one of the shelves for purses and accessories. It’s such a better use of the space!
