Despite my best efforts, the countertop in my bathroom always ends up looking more like the cosmetics aisle of the drugstore than an elegant space to perform my daily skincare routine. While some bottles and jars are pretty enough to permanently take residence on the vanity, the biggest clutter culprit is my cotton face pads. I consider these skincare accessories to be essential for removing makeup and impurities at the end of each day, but it’s tricky to know where to keep them.

I was annoyed at having to dispense my face pads from their drawstring plastic bag on a daily basis, and I was becoming increasingly displeased with their look amongst my skincare selection, so I went in search of a storage solution. That’s when I turned my attention to a rarely used item in my kitchen cabinet: ramekins.

Why You Should Put Ramekins in Your Bathroom

I realized that the humble ramekin, a ceramic pot that’s more commonly used for baking soufflés and crème brûlées, could double up as a clever container for cotton rounds. They are the perfect size and shape to hold round disposable face pads. After placing the ramekin on my bathroom counter, the space went from cluttered to cute and organized. The ramekin I use can hold around 20 pads, so I simply refill it every two or three weeks to keep them replenished.

Where to Find Ramekins for Your Bathroom

Ramekins are one of those kitchen essentials that always seem to be in generous supply at the thrift store, so you can pick them up for super cheap. Alternatively, consider these ceramic ramekins from Amazon that work out to costing less than $2 each.

I opted for blue ramekins because they work with my bathroom color scheme, but clear glass or fluted white ceramic ramekins are a great option because they can fit with any decor style. In the bathroom, you could also use these handy open containers as a drop zone for keeping loose items organized, such as hair clips and earrings. Additionally, they’re easy to wipe clean, or you can occasionally pop them in the dishwasher with the rest of your kitchenware to keep them sparkling.
