Who remembers those college days of grabbing your shower caddy packed with soap, shampoo, and other bathroom essentials to make your way to the dorm showers? Thinking back to freshman year, I remember it quite well. And I have to say it makes me cherish having my own bathroom more now.

My shower caddy did come in handy in keeping me organized on those multiple trips when I needed several items. Interestingly enough, more than 20 years later, it’s still helping me stay organized while adding a little extra fun to my cleaning routine

A few years ago, I rediscovered my old shower caddy in the basement. My family had moved into a new house and I was decluttering and going through forgotten items left in boxes. How I managed to keep it all this time, I don’t know.

At first, my shower caddy seemed like a shoo-in for the donation pile. What was I going to do with such an oddly shaped container? But after taking another look, I realized it could be a useful portable storage option for my multiple cleaning supplies. No more trips all over the house trying to remember all my cleaning products. I could use my shower caddy to keep my supplies in one place and carry them with me.

I quickly discovered that my shower caddy’s odd size fits nicely under my sink right in the middle of my bathroom vanity where the plumbing typically dips down. It’s a space that’s hard to store things in with a curled pipe in the way. With the caddy’s sturdy and heavy-duty handle, it’s easy to grab it when the need to clean hits me.

I can fit my reusable plastic gloves, cleaning scrub brushes, glass window spray, disinfectant spray, cleaning wipes, as well as a roll of paper towels all neatly together in one place for convenience and easy accessibility. Not to mention that when my caddy gets gross from dirt and dust finding a home in the corner of its compartments, it’s easy to rinse and clean. Being made of more durable and thicker plastic, it has stood the test of time after multiple uses.

Whether I’m in the bathroom or need to clean areas in the bedroom or kitchen, I can take my shower caddy turned cleaning caddy and walk room to room without juggling multiple items in my arms. It makes my weekly cleaning so much easier. It’s great when I can discover new uses for stuff I already have  —  my old college shower caddy included.
